When did the word "LOVE" become just a word?
Why is Love used so easly by so many just to gain things in life? When do we use the word Love, When did mankind invent the word and use it to discribe his true emotions. When did people learn to use the word as just a tool? |

Love is a crazy word. Some use it to describe true emotion, some use it as a tool, as you've said, to get what they want from someone. Though I'm not sure exactly how, why, or when things went wrong I can only say that it definitely has less meaning now than it once did. I don't know about you but I am VERY careful about how I use the word. It's still sacred to me.

for me love is a feeling and emotion that CARRIES WITH IT A CERTAIN RESPONSIBILITY. We say we love chocolate, be it ice cream, candy bars or just anything with chocolate in it. We love many things but to love a person is an emotion that a thing cannot give or receive

It scares you, good point, not only that but how do we know if it is a one-sided love affair anymore.. |

Hmmm I can't say about a special man since I am alone but I can tell you how I know that I am honestly loved by my friends.
My friends show me love when they listen to me, whether its a day that is filled with happiness or sadness. When they pick up the phone and call, just to chat. When you go to the mailbox, and find a special card sent to you from them When you see them after not seeing them for a long time, and they get this huge smile across their face, and you hug each other. When they show up out of the blue, just because they want to spend time with you. When you receive an email from them just to say hi, hope your day is going well Those are just some of the things that occur its not the big things that show love its the little things whether it be in friendship, family way or a special relationship with that one that completes you. Honest love is about being who you are, being truthful, respectful of each other, not being afraid to show that you care, and most of all valuing each other. Sure we all forget at times to do those things but if you look inside the heart you will know if your honestly loved |

Why are we caught off guard when our so called "love ones" walk out on us? |

For the simple reason that we forget to treasure and cherish what brought us together.
We forgot to communicate, and respect each other Relationships are hard work ,and it takes both people to work on them...........when you both slack off that is when the trouble begins |

When it is one sided, and you know that you did everything you could to keep the relationship going than its time to look yourself in the mirror say..........HEy I am a good person, I didn't deserve what happened. Sure I have my faults, and I have made my share of mistakes but I truly gave it my all.
then you pick yourself up by your boot straps, face yourself squarely and say I am worth having a good person in my life, and I will find that special one. One that will honestly love me and my faults |

Easy answer for me Eddie, my hubsand took his own life almost 9 years ago. I chose to devote myself to making sure that my children were raised to be as happy and healthy emotionally and mentally as they could after that. I put my own life on hold. My youngest is graduating in June, and then its time for me...........it was my own choice, and right now I am having a great time making friends, and if I meet someone great

Love??....I honestly don't know the meaning of the word...
I seldom say it..I couldn't tell you the last time I said the word...Oh I may say "I love going to the movies" or I love to read, but Love in the context for another person: I have difficulty with that because I feel it is such a strong and complicated word...I find too many people throw that word around far to readily without thinking...(just my past experiences) So I refrain from using it... It would take ALOT of emotion, of which I don't have, to tell another person that I LOVE them.... There was only one exception to this rule, there was one person I truly, madly, deeply, unconditionally Loved, (and I suppose in my own way still do) that I told him so...this was along time ago... there are so many definitions, levels for the word Love... I do love myself.....does that count??... |

Hmmm. I've heard people say:
I love having fun, I love music, I love the cold weather, I love clouds, I love that purse, I love those shoes, I love tacos & burritos, I love Cheetos, I love purple. Am I silly for thinking that “love” is being trivialized? |

Am I silly for thinking that “love” is being trivialized? It's all relative....like I mentioned earlier there are different levels and depending on the individual, definitions on what "love" means.... for me I was referring on using the "L" in context of saying "I Love you"...I can't...won't say it in that context....only once did I tell someone I loved them..and it was worth it..guess I just haven't found that "someone" to say it to... OH, and I Love chocolate covered cherries too!!.. |

ooops my bad...I meant chocolate covered strawberries...(gotta get that one straight, sheesh)..sorry...

ooops my bad...I meant chocolate covered strawberries...(gotta get that one straight, sheesh)..sorry... I think the point you're making is that if I covered myself with chocolate, more women will LOVE me. My gosh. It's so simple. |

When did the word "LOVE" become just a word? Why is Love used so easly by so many just to gain things in life? When do we use the word Love, When did mankind invent the word and use it to discribe his true emotions. When did people learn to use the word as just a tool? Lesson I got years ago by the 10 year old son of a woman I was with at the time. He told me he he liked me. Because like was a much better word than love. People love pizza. People love dogs. People love their cars. People love cats. People love sports. People love music. etc........ Nobody ever likes anything or anyone. So like must be better than love. He liked me. Only response I could think of was that I liked him too. |
