Corpses of lost loves
Fettered to my heart With chains of If only Sinking in the slow quicksand Of should have Weighing it down With the heaviness of hope Yet the sun still rises And the birds still sing While it lingers behind Drowsy from denial Trying to buy its way out Taking out loans Made poor paying the usury To maintain its dream Impoverished of presence of mind A heart unresolved Picking petals from a daisy She loves me She loves me not A soul drawn and quartered By the horses of desire Torn in diverse directions Like a crew of sailors rowing against the wind With sails full opened wide Till sweet powerlessness Falls Like morning rain on On fallow ground Plowed and broken in the night And i sweetly bleed Into my tears Turning water into wine |
