just asking everyone to please say a prayer for my family this Christmas as it will be a difficult one. my grandfather just had heart surgery last week, and day before yesterday we found out he is dying of lung cancer. Day before yesterday they gave him until Christmas. yesterday Hospice gave him 5 days to live and today they have knocked it down to 2 days. He is going to be with the Lord and in that we all have peace. But please keep our family in your prayers as well as others going thru the same dificulty. God Bless!

KELLY...
So sorry to hear about your heartbreaking news. It is so hard to lose loved ones during the holiday season. May you find peace in that he will suffer no longer. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. |

I lost a husband to lung and brain cancer, It was fast. Comfort him even in unconsciousness. They hear. I promise. Mine did.
Through his pain, give him light. It is there waiting. Kat |

Kelly I'm so sorry to hear that. My grandfather passed away August 10, 2006, the day I started my internship. He didn't have lung cancer, but it was tough when hospice got involved and gave you a time frame. My other grandfather passed away a few years ago and he had lung cancer. He battled it for two years without any family member knowing it.
My prayers are with you and your family. Sometimes it's easier to talk to a stranger, so if you ever want to talk, I'm here. |

I didn't know my papaw was sick until now. So it is a big shock to me. He knew however, and we did not know that he has not kept his DR. appts. for the last 2 years until they did the heart surgery. But they say because of his skin "modeling", that he only has 2 days left. Who knows. I am expecting "the call" at any moment. ON A GOOD NOTE: he is awake and alert and seems to be in absolutely no pain. So we all just hope and pray that this will be quick and painless for him. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE REPLIES. MAKE SURE YOUR FAMILIES KNOW THAT YOU APPRECIATE THEM, BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT TOMORROW HOLDS!

My grandfather kept his appointments. When my mom asked if his doctor had mentioned cancer he would tell her no. He was ready and I remember one night in the hospital he refused the oxygen and everything. Almost every hour on the hour, he would wake up and say "damn I'm not dead yet". At the time it was hard to hear him say it, but he was ready. We didn't know until we found papers dating two years back that he was having bone marrow biopsies (spelling), so it could have been larger.
I completely agree... tell your family and loved ones just what they mean to you regularly. Tomorrow isn't a given! |
