Depends on your own situation and the official work situation. Do you have a contract that demands a certain amount of time or not? Do you need their referral for another job or not? Will it show up on your resume? Is it really easy to get another job? Then there's how you feel about it all and your personality. I've once went to my manager, told him what I needed to stay. He had to ask the top, came back to me in an hour. I didn't get it, it was black and white. Fine. Then I'm gone. And I did, in the middle of the workday. Packed up my stuff and left. My contract allowed me to do that so wasn't an issue. Question is, if you know it's easy to find something else and you're not happy there, why are you hesitating? I agree! I believe sometimes it's difficult because we want to do what's best, in other's eyes. Least that's what kept me from leaving my job sooner. I didn't want to disappoint others and wanted to do what I thought was right in other's eyes... a two week notice. But at what cost? The fast paced environment and physical demands of the job were making me miserable. It was difficult to enjoy my job while being in constant pain. My manager spoke with me yesterday about lightening my schedule to make things easier for me. I finally spoke up and told her I couldn't do the job anymore, it's hurting me and let her know I'd finish out the week but then I'm done. She was very empathetic and gave me today off since it was a full day. Tomorrow, a half day, will be my last day. Fortunately, I have another job that I will be starting next week. I worked there before so I already know I will succeed in that position. I think sometimes that's another hesitation when wanting to leave a job... will the next one be just as bad or even worse? |

If it's not enhancing your life, and your boss Isn't valuing all you put forth, and......
She wouldn't give you the same treatment that you would give her, she canceled her "notice privileges".... quit when you see that it benefits you. If you can get a job in a quick fix, then move on.... or get one hell of a raise if you stay! |

We spend so much time at work, if it’s not the right place,
is draining. Glad you made a decision and went with it. Happy studying! |

If your prospects are good, quit; if you have advancement training in mind, quit; and if you really don't want to go to work, quit. Have some fun.
I want to quit my job but the boss is too entertaining, with his webs of deception coming undone. I'm just saving my money. |

Parapsychology, I wish. But, they do not have that here..... I thought of a way around that.. They do paragliding in NZ don't they? Simple. go flying with a psycologist, and have a good old chat while flying about. |

Simple. go flying with a psycologist, and have a good old chat while flying about. Oh the psychologist would be too busy making me do breathing exercises and using their 'anti tantrum' skills. I am petrified of heights. |

I'm self employed and sack myself twice a day for incompetence. I also resign but it's never accepted!
Seriously Ladywind....secure another job first if your current one is stressing you then put your notice in. You might feel better for having a rant telling someone what you think about them but if you need a reference it's less damaging to hold your tongue - at least until you're in your new job. It's tough that someone can get away with treating others badly but you have to look after yourself and the best way to do that is to vote with your feet and find another job. IMHO. |

Life is way too short to spend it being unhappy... especially when you can change your circumstances. Now I am very happy.
