Can anyone tell me how I would convert a Wordperfect document to a Word document? I can't figure out how to do it? Thanks.

You should just be able to open it in Word, then do a "save as" and save it as a .doc file.

What do you mean .doc ?

Click on 'FILE' then go to 'SAVE AS'. theres a place where you select the FILE NAME: and FILE TYPE: theres a drop box in file type look through them and select WORD DOCUMENT or somthing close to that

Oh! That's just the file extension name for MS Word documents. they end in .doc

Now I have a more pressing problem. I think my computer is in safe mode and don't know how to get it out. All my documents are in blue and the font is huge. Can anyone help?

Why do you think your system is in "safe mode"??? What version of Windows are you running? XP?? What does the computer do when you first boot it up?? What is your shoe size???

My old computers used to go into safe mode and the screen would turn blue and the font got big. Therefore, I am guessing it is in safe mode based on my old computers. First time for my Dell Inspiron B130 laptop. I have windows xp. Seems ok when I first boot up. My shoe size is a 7 1/2. How about yours?

OK, then it's NOT going to be in safe mode. , you would see when the system would boot...a DOS type screen then scrolling text, then a freeze, then into "safe mode" and have a pop-up to let you know its in safe mode..and then safe mode would be writting in 4 diagnal spots on your desltop screen.

If you want to boot into "safe mode", when you first turn on the computer, tap the "F8" key, then the system should give you a "boot ladder screen" that allows you to select the boot mode. Otherwise it will just boot in standard mode.

And my shoe size is a 10..(depending on the shoe) it's the same as my IQ.

To fix any other computer problems, I will need $129.99 per 30 min session....or a hummer and two shots of tequilla!

(Just JOKING!!! I don't drink tequilla!)

Assuming it is in safe mode.. and it would have told you so a few different ways if it was.. including a banner at start up and in the corners of your desktop... Or.. as I suspect..somehow the driver for your video chip got corrupt and you are running in a lower resolution.

You can try to correct both by running system restore.

Go to your start button in the task bar. Click help and support. Click "Undo changes.....System Restore" in the "Pick a task" category

By default the menu should be at "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Hit next.

Choose a day or two before you noticed this happen. Hit next.. keep hitting next or ok till it reboots. Ideally everything should be back to normal.. if not, it gets a bit more complex.

When all else fails with Windows XP, just re-start your computer. I think it would be better to first try re-starting your machine then doing a "System Restore"... but if you fixed it, it ain't broke any more... and as they say... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

WinXP has an amazing ability to fix itself just by re-starting sometimes.

You will know without a shadow of a doubt Windows XP is in safe mode... in all four corners of the screen, there will be a little box that says "Safe Mode"... if those boxes are not there, it is not in safe mode.

True.. but a messed up video driver? Which can happen for a number of reasons. One of which could be malware.

If something corrupted one dll..it is not an unreasonable conclusion to draw that it could have corrupted many, and is simply waiting for a reboot to get its hooks in the kernel and rewrite system files. In which case the machine may not boot into windows again without some help from someone like you or me..

So.. there was a method to my madness.

hammer seems to fix my safe mode troubles, then again it just takes it from a blue screen to a black screen =)

The Big font is the resolution that is lost when you enter safe-mode. Safe mode uses no drivers except basic ones, hence the 400X600 resolution? hmm yes Handcuffs lol
