Hello,
After reading a few threads about peoples profiles, and people pretending and such like, I thought a thread for profile reviews would be nice. So, read a profile, comment on that profile, and also maybe make a comment or two about what you imagine that person is like. Please be honest, but be nice too. Give people a chance to respond to comments on their profile. If you profile is reviewed, please don't take it personally. Use peoples comments as a tool to improve your profile. Ta, ~C |

This is a good idea. I know I get asked, several times a week, to check out someone's profile and make suggestions as to how it could be improved.
Oddly enough, the people who ask me to do this, usually have profiles that are already pretty decent and just need a little rearranging or editing or fleshing out. The people with the worst profiles -- the empty ones, the illiterate ones, the ones who upload pictures from magazines and pretend it's them, those are the ones who never ask for suggestions! I guess they just don't care.... |

I have changed my profile from 2 pages to 1 full page to just 2 or three sentences....I can't put into words (unless I'm writing a book..lol )about myself and my likes, dislikes, etc; so my profile is pretty redundant I suppose...just the synopsis of who I am....I know it's pretty lame..
oh well...I figure getting to know people more from what they post in the forums as opposed to what they write in their profiles...although it is an introductory thing... thanks.. |

Hey Moody! I think the profile is pretty much a secondary priority for those of us who post in the forums -- because the forums are generally a much better way to get a read on someone. Unless you have a profile like mine, which is 1382 pages long. But I'm thinking about the people who don't post -- for them, the profile is all they've got, all we have to go by if we want to know anything about them. Just seems to me that, if you want to be successful on a site like this one, and you're not going to post at all, you'd want to make the profile as interesting as possible. But maybe they know something I don't know....?? |

Great so we have some interest! Shall we pick someone, and start a thread about their profile?
I'd volunteer if it wasn't so narcissistic. I would suggest LexFonteyne's profile, but I don't have that much spare time (I'm being serious!). 250 lines, 7649 words or 41707 chars is, I would say, a bit excessive. I can see that you've tried to use it as some kind of blog, but I would strongly suggest using something like http://wordpress.com/ and just linking to it. Ta, ~C |

and rather than put the profile reviews in General Discussion....
Stick it in HELP Help with Profiles.... Just a Suggestion.... |

We could go rouge and just critique random profiles, like masked strangers improving the quality of random peoples profiles.

Long, admittedly, but last I heard, this was still allegedly a "free country." Until they change the site rules, I think I'll leave it as is. Given the amount of positive feedback it generates, and the number of people who follow the ongoing story diligently, I see no reason to make any changes. Of course, no one is FORCING you to read it.... |

You obviously like writing, and are talented at it. I think a separate site would be a better platform for your work. Its only a suggestion, and would hopefully get you more exposure. Of course its a free(ish) country and you are free to take my advice or not, just as I am free to write my thoughts. And I said a bit excessive! Ta, ~C P.S. None of us live in a free country |

OK, being the martyr that I am...I offer myself up to the peer-review gods. Besides, I'm working on my core character and being able to take constructive criticism. Newly married and with an already fragil self-image, I've been REALLY tested as of late.......
So, go ahead and I'll take it gracefully...and change if necessary. |

P.S. None of us live in a free country Chris, Amen to that! And getting worse all the time! And thank you for the kind words about my writing! I joke around about it a lot, but I do appreciate it when someone notices and comments. |

OK, I took a look, and I have to say, you did a good job on that one. There's enough information for me to feel like I know something about you -- particularly since I've read so many of your posts, as well; this just fills out the picture a little further -- The "anatomy" line is excellent -- a sense of humor is always a plus -- and the pics really add to the sense of getting to know who you are. If it was me, I would probably add a 3000-word essay on why I don't like onion and garlic potato chips or something, but I suppose that's not for everybody.... But seriously, it's one of the better ones I've seen here. I don't think you really need to change anything. |

Check out my profile! Check out my profile! Look at me! Look at me! Me! Me! Me! Me me! Pick me! Pick me! The main purpose for joining up to a site such as this is so people can look at your profile and if they like what they read, contact you. In some ways you've already put yourself on a pedestal just by joining. Some people are better at English than others, and to request help with a profile is a good thing and should be encouraged. My previous comment on the narcissism of it all, was due to the fact I started the thread, and do not want people to think this is the reason. I am glad your confident in your profile and feel you need no help with it, but I am sure not everyone feels the same. Ta, ~C P.S. Hmmmmmm turns out you were probably joking. |
