There is a difference between a TRIGGER for a war, and a CAUSE for a war, and who "started" it.
I know of no war where all three were the same. As for what BECAME World War 1, the fighting began when Serbia was attacked by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. And that wasn't actually "caused" by the murder of the Archduke of Austria, all by by itself. |

The first world war began in August 1914. It was directly triggered by the assassination of the Austrian archduke, Franz Ferdinand and his wife, on 28th June 1914 by Bosnian revolutionary, Gavrilo Princip.
The actual CAUSES of the war are more complicated and are still debated by historians today. |

Who started World War 1?
I did. ....Sorry about that. Serbian secret society known as the "Black Hand"
If they're a secret society....how are they known, and why do they have a name? I mean it seems like saying "a secret society, known only as the neon colored glow wigs that sing and dance every Thursday taking credit for things." If they've earned a moniker, and "everybody knows" they're behind certain actions...are they a "secret society?" Or just a society? Or gang? Or group? Just a group of people that just don't virtue signal and advertise like politicians taking credit for all the good stuff that happens and blaming all the negative interpretations of things on someone else? |

Back to the TOPIC - WW1. My father was born in 1899. When he was 17 he joined the Navy and served in a submarine in WW1. He told me that it literally was a "tin can" and you could hear every fish that hit it. I would have been scared to death to be in a sub during that War.

William Smith's wife.
Had she given Bill a bit of peace at home, he wouldn't have been so short with the other guys in the office. That caused a trickle effect that ended up getting the Japanese dude that delivered coffee at his office irritated which then caused a trickle effect with how he treated his family and wives talk. Pretty soon, everyone was ticked off and war was inevitable. |

Just think, if FDR wasn't such a pansy he would have enforced the Treaty of Versailles and Nazi Germany would have crumbled long before the night of the long knives. |
