Solitary Confinement

I sit in silence
staring at the four walls
there is this feeling
of despair
of pain
and fear
I am no longer the me
who ravaged life
without a care

The walls
seem to grow
closer
and closer
as if their intent is to trap my thoughts
I scream STOP
yet they continue to move
towards me
minute after minute
hour after hour
day after day
closer and closer

I no longer know
who I am
where I am
where I've been
or going
I'm just here
trapped
caged
and lost

My voice
has no words
just guttural sounds
of torment
as the walls close in on my soul
this confinement
pounds my thoughts
yet there is no one to hear my voice
is this
what I deserve
is this
how forever will be
imprisoned
to live out my guilt
