sure it is terrible seeing these children suffering ...


or the wounded worriers protect...


or any others like the government should be watching an paying for ...
becouse they where the ones who put these men and women in danger... that come home crippled and are called heroes ... or those who take their own life ... that have so many thoughts of killing ... veterans that live on the streets with know home ...


and then the animals... save the animals ...


they spend so much cash on these wars an do not know... where the $ has been sent ... but expect those the Americans people to pay ... for their problems with their own donations out of pocket ... what is wrong with these pictures... I use to give but do not believe anyone that may call now... they say their resources and food are down ... what do you wont when we have wars in all these country's on & on ... we are talking about the poor in our homes & countries ...I know as American do t ry and help ... and more should be thankful for that ...when others can't give them selves ...

Too many terrible things happen around the world to keep accurate tabs on, especially when a Mass Media that was once explicitly trusted no questions asked is revealing itself to be as trustworthy as a prisoner under extreme torture.
But to carry the weight of the atrocities of the globe on one's shoulders isn't charity, it's a sure way to lose faith in humanity, become bitter and then heartless.

I help the ones I can see when I go out my door. No need of an organization to tell me who to help, I see those poor gents as clear as day everyday. Especially when I know that only a fraction of the monies given to those so-called charity organizations actually go to the gents who really need the help.
A friend of mine used to work at the United Nations Relief Fund and she said I'd be shocked if I knew how much of the money get to those it's supposed to help and I believe her.
I got approached by Amnesty International in the streets some months ago, asking for donations. I asked the young lady how long A.I has been in "business". She answered something like 70 years. I told her that if in 70 year it hasn't been able to change the conditions that they are advocating against, then it should close its doors.

There are plenty of people to help right in our neighborhoods without looking for those who are 10,000 miles away.

The American people ( generally ) are a welcoming and generous people - at least it used to be - but I see a lot of naivety coming from the populace and, above all, misinformation and disinformation is rampant.
By helping those right next door, you at least know that 100% of what you give will go to the person intended and not to some fat dictator or the troops that prop him up.

I don't get any more tired of it than any other type of advertising honestly. Its still a choice where to throw out your money or who to give it to or why.

I'm glad people care enough to try. I think there are plenty of situations around the globe that can use resources to combat.

The real problem are the professional fund raisers; those are the ones doing most of the ads. The real issue is they keep much of what they collect and the charity gets a small share.

Indeed, you should check out any charity for this, using a site like Charity Navigator (charitynavigator.org). That site can tell you things like how much the chairman makes from the charity per year, and the "overhead" of the charity.

My pet peeve charity ad is that damn "Kars for Kids" ad on radio and TV. I immediately change the channel when I hear the intro to that little whiney kid singer... not to mention that they are promoting bad spelling....

One mistake I suggest no one make about this:

the fact that there are people and organizations that you see regularly, asking for donations for various people and creatures, does NOT mean that those people are being taken care of sufficiently.

I agree with those who are very upset that our veterans and injured military personnel HAVE to turn to charity.

That politicians of any stripe, pretend to honor them, and then repeatedly refuse to provide even enough funding to see to their injuries received while serving (and at such VERY low rates of pay).

Next time you hear a politician or pundit chant "thank you for your service," in their effort to get YOU to vote for them for being so "grateful," be sure to demand to know what they have done, OTHER than wear a flag pin, and chant a phrase.

Yeah, I'm totally sick of it. And the more you do it, the more they will ask, and the less benefit those in need will actually get. Its a sad world sometimes.

Reminds me of the Bob Dylan song, its alright ma, I'm only bleeding, for some reason. The line about selling glow in the dark Christ's. I'm sure he also mentioned tax free conscience dollars in another song.

Protect the Harvest has a good one out. They're telling people to contribute to your local animal shelter, rather than donating to the national ASPCA. Reason is, that money you think is going to your local shelter, is really going to those who insist on meddling in on cattle and dairy farming. Hunting and fishing concerns are also seeing pressure from them.

I have volunteered with a lady that rescued puppy mill dogs for 8 years. She recently died, but vetted and found new homes for over 500 dogs. Helped wash the dogs, spend time socializing them. Many of us volunteers pitched in to pay the terribly high vet bills and the vet gave her a per month payment plan.

I won't give a dime to those smiling handicapped kid ads that say they will send you a blanket, or the wounded warriors who will send a cup, and "throw" and other stuff.
I can buy those things at Wally World., why pay $19 a month ---easy to figure where the donations are going.

I HAVE pressed a $20 bill into a vets hand when I shake it. I have donated at soup suppers raising money for surgeries for children in or near my home town. Over the years I have taken in 7 rescue dogs in various sizes.

I watch a lot of DVD's because there are no commercials.
