OMG, there is no best horror movie.
Everytime I think any movie is the best I end up seeing one better.
Best is a relative term.

There are a lot of very well made horror movies.
But like any horror movie, there are individual aspects of favortism concerning the type of horror and who is assessing its merits.

To me, any movie can be horrific. To me, the idea of someone killing or raping someone is horrific.
To me, any fight with a ghost or demon or alien is fantasy but if there is killing it is also horrific.

All that being said, when I think good, well-made Horror movies I think (in no particular order);

The Jeepers Creepers films
The Hellraiser films
The original Nightmare on Elm Street
Split (McAvoy was amazing)
Any of the Cannibal Holocaust films

I still maintain that....and I have been saying this for over the last five years now....the last great horror film was The Descent. I know many will disagree, but Neil Marshall created a near perfect horror film.
