Ayttm - Universal Instant Messaging Client
Ayttm is an instant messaging (aka chat) client that provides all-in-one chat functionality for several major instant messaging services from one simple program. Ayttm "Contacts" allow you to refer to several accounts of the same person from a single contact name, making it one of the cleanest and simplest clients to use. Ayttm is the heir of the Everybuddy project, and aims to continue improving the program and addressing its shortcomings. Our primary goal is to provide a messenger which is : * simple: Ayttm should work nicely without having to first go through a complicated configuration procedure. The preferences should be simple and minimal. * stable: Ayttm should not crash when you use it. * intuitive: Ayttm should be almost instantly usable by my mother ;) * flexible: Ayttm supports multiple protocols and they should be supported in an integrated manner (common interface, for example), without limiting protocol-specific features support. Ayttm currently handles Yahoo!, MSN, Jabber, IRC, AIM and ICQ. Ayttm is developed primarily for Linux but it is also available on BSD and Windows NT/2000 platforms I like that it doesn't crash and it is free. |

i'm on XP,that's why i've been using Gaim Pidgin is the instant messenger formally known as Gaim... AOL got sand in their fanny because Gaim had AIM in the name (wooo it rhymes). Pidgin is the new Gaim, if you install Pidgin it would upgrade Gaim for you . Ta, ~C |

Just about have Kopete working the way I want it. The only thing I couldn't get to working with Kopete was voice for my microphone but downloaded Ekiga. Haven't figured how to get Kopete and Ekiga working together but I can use Ekiga separately. Ekiga has audio and video so I can use my microphone and webcam together.

I don't have any instant messangers. I don't really care about them.

I have heard of Trillian. I have heard that it is cool. But pidgin comes with Linux Ubuntu 7.10.

The new disk of Ubuntu 7.10 came in the mail from Canonical free of charge so I started over. Now I got the 7.04 and the 7.10 on disks. I just went download crazy the first time. I was like a kid in a candy shop. All this free stuff. Fortunate for me my dsl modem is programmed from the ISP. But I sure love the live cd feature. Imagine my surprise of Linux being user friendly. Back when I was still in college in 2004 Linux where I went was just called DOS2. DOS1 was Microsoft and the college didn't even take MacIntosh seriously. I took the repair and networking courses. I took one course of Visual Basic and found out real fast that programming wasn't my cup of tea. Using the Pidgin now. Just have to use Ekiga separately.
