I can turn the music up as loud as I want to. No one complains when I cook. I don't have to grit my teeth & say yes dear.... I don't have to worry about what kind of mood he'll be in when he gets home. I have control of the remote. I don't have to pick up left over food on the couch in the morning. I could go on & on ..... 
He complained about your cooking? But your profile says divorced not widowed. Must be a mistake.
