Hey stu, what's happening?
Hey Mike, my uncle passed away last night. We were expecting it. He was very well known in the boat racing world (APBA).
my condolences stu.
Oh, sorry for your loss stu
But it looks like he's flying in the photo! Must have been a crazy guy! |
He is considered one of the best in the business. In 74, his rookie season driving unlimited hydroplanes, (Miss Budweiser) he won 3 consecutive cup races, something only 2 others had done before him.
He could certainly drive them boats. |
That's an achievement!
Looks like half a spitfire /mustang engine in there! |

thanks guys. We were expecting it. It was just a question of when.
He passed peacefully and in no pain. He'd been sick since last summer when he had a quad bypass, then he kept getting pneumonia, and was diagnosed not long ago with end stage heart failure. He requested that he not be put back on a ventilator or machine again. He will be cremated and his daughter is going to get to all the places he raced and spread a little bit of him around. |
