Topic: Waterfox ~ Alternative to the new Firefox? | |
---|---|
I just found and downloaded Waterfox.
http://www.waterfoxproject.org/ I haven't installed it yet because I don't know if it will over-write Firefox and While there are things about the new Firefox that I don't like, It is working. I'm wondering if anyone is using Waterfox and do you like it? Did it over-write Firefox? Can both browsers run at the same time? My main problem with firefox is the lackl of a bbcode extension. I got really used to using BBCode Xtra in firefox. Simple context menu markup coding. Without it, I have to type my markup by hand. High chance of coding errors. Any feeback on WaterFox is appreciated. |

Thanks for the link Tom, I'll check this thing tomorrow perhaps.
I'm mainly on Linux, so the most imprtant thing for me is, does it have a Linux version? Firefox (even the latest one) is quite heavy for resourses on an older hardware, so I don't use it a lot. For some reason I doubt it will over-wright your existing Firefox installation - it's still a different application. |

I'm also thinking it won't.
I'll do a mozbackup tomorrow and try. At least I'll have a backup if thinks get wonky. I think it is based on mozilla, that's why I was dreading an over-write. Its touted as a 64-bit browser. Its based on mozilla and mozilla is open source. Might work in linux? |

I used it sometime back and it did affect Firefox so I uninstalled it.. can't remember what it actually did but Firefox had problems. I'm not real keen in the way Firefox 64bit is going either.
I also use KLS Mail Backup Ver 1.9.8.0. I tried the later version but didn't like it. |

Waterfox works along side of Firefox, It does not overwrite on install.
