Topic: Any bicycle riders out there? | |

I ride a lot and do mountain rides in the summer. I do about 100 to 120 a week in the warm months. I do pretty good for an old guy of 53 years old and would like to hear if anyone is kind of the same as me.

I ride some, but not that much. At the end of the summer and in the fall I was riding maybe twice a week for a total of 20 or 25 miles.
As a kid I rode almost every weekend because we had to train for GOBA... if you know what that is. I went on that for 3 years, lots of fun! |

I enjoy riding a great deal. I've learned of some great trails in the vicinity of Minneapolis. Earlier this fall, I did a 30-mile ride to raise money for the United Way. Bicycling is one of my great pleasures, though. I used to want a motorcycle until I got a nice bike. Then, I realized that everything I wanted came with a bicycle.

Yup. The city I live in is built for it. Over 200 miles of paved trails, 5 bridges over the river that are designated for bike and pedestrians, as well as bike lanes and routes criss crossing town. It is possible to leave my car parked for a month at a time. Only using it for out of town trips or when I've got too much to carry to an account, large grocery runs, etc...
It is possible to ride from one end of town to the other while only spending time on a handfull of blocks of street, fighting with cars. |

I am/was a bike rider. During the time I lived in Colorado I would ride the Denver bike paths and later the paths up in the mountain towns of Breckenridge and Keystone. Denver is a town just made for a bike. When I relocated to Washington I found that our nation’s capitol is also a town better toured on a bike or roller blades. It was part of my job in Washington to take my boss’s clients on tours of the monuments of Washington DC. I would take them on a bike if they could do it. We could see more of the town than anyone would ever see from a car or a tour bus. I became very familiar with the byways of our nation’s capitol. It was a time I enjoyed.
When I was younger I used to ride cross country. I have criss-crossed this country and all of Europe several times on bicycle. I have some big thighs and found memories. I really find a bike ride to be a romantic way to spend time with a gal. |
