Im a frequent visitor to LA , infact i had just returned on my 7th visit .

In all those visits i have noticed how incredibly unhospitable the americans are in particular the Black American females. They are incredibly shallow and will only help if their is something for them at the end of it grumble .

In Britain we will not think twice about welcoming someone into our country and ensuring that our foreign counterparts have a safe and fruitful stay.

Im thinking of moving to LA and wonder if their are any part where people are welcoming and know the definition of " Manners" or am i flogging a dead horsehuh ?

LOL (sorry for laughing, but man did you pick the wrong area of the states if you are looking for any type of manners or hospitality!)

I grew up in the mid-west (Oklahoma..where men are men, women are women and sheep are nervous  ) And there they did not have the brightest people in the world, but you could count on them for "substance". They are down to earth people and thier words actually hold weight! If they said they will help you, they would give you anything they could to help, if they said they were going to kick your arse, well you better get your fists up cause its coming.

I moved to southern CA over 3 years ago. Talk about culture shock! They term California as the land of "fruits flakes and nuts"...and man is that TRUE!

Most people I have found here pay a ton of "lip service"! You can't rely on what they say in almost any manner. Unfortunately its becoming a wide spread epidemic here in the USA. People (all races all genders, etc) are becoming so self centered and self consumed. I was raised "what can I do to help you?". Now they think "what can you do for me!?" its becoming TOTAL BS!

But the coasts seems to be the worst. I can say even living near LA, it would not hurt my feelings at all when it drops into the ocean...but I will miss Disney Land!

Interesting....Not one of the people replying live in Los Angeles so how could they know anything....(Palm Desert is not LA)

there are all kinds of people here in Paradise(I mean LA)....the good & the bad.....besides, I've always found that it is what you 'bring to the table' that matters....

I consider myself friendly & fun....& when I bring that with me, whether shopping at the market or mall or just encountering people, the responses are almost always positive....

Los Angeles is a wonderful place to live....more people come here than leave....its gorgeous, with art, culture, education, natural beauty....you just gotta look, its all here

bigsmile Thanks everyone for taking the time and trouble to respond to my article,Some positive & negative.
As for Sumthing and Shadows comments about LA being a gay town , well then im half way on my way to Paradise and as im a lesbian myself i will fit in very well happy , but yet having manners and politeness is a most for me , to pick up and move to another part of the world .
I have been to California 6 times , and recently came back . My first experience was Awful. It was a tremedous culture shock to endure extreme rudeness when i first came to the airport and the black women at secuirty acted like I had offended their mothers . It was like they was aiming for a physical confrontation.

Coming from England where everyone is extremely helpful , well mannered and polite , the experienced knocked me out for six , i can tell ya huh

My last experience was one of pure joy , most people ( many white people) where extremely pleasant and helpful.
Now all i have to do now is find myself a cute lesbian woman to marry and im will be crowned the next queen of Cali bigsmile

Only kidding ;)
