 What are your plans for today?
Nothing if I can get away with it, but I guess I need to try and work on that shed more.. but it's freezing out, and my jeep still needs to be unloaded from yesterday. |

Plus it's windy.. so 58° isn't gonna feel warm. |

Yes, it's running a lot better. It's still a little slow but not like before and it's not glitching up on me.
It's an older laptop that was given to me, I'd like to get a better one with Windows 10, and more ram and a better processor. |

just getting more ram into that one would be a huge help.
which windows is it? i haven't heard from many that are happy with 10 |

Stick with 7 and increase ram...

That sounds good, I don't have a problem with 7, I just want it to run faster. And I'm not sure what brand to go with.

even tho it's no longer supported xp is the most stable of the last 4.
7 and 8 both get about the same reviews some like each better than the other. the biggest thing with both is turning off automatic updates. both have a glitch that makes them gobble up all processor trying to download the updates. that and using only one anti virus not an add on and win defender |

Oh, I don't have automatic updates turned off.
Yes, when I downloaded Microsoft essentials, it warned me about that. I liked XP the best, but like you said, it's not supported by very much. Which brands are good? |

the are all so homogenised these days that it is really more about features and support. but the best gear is definitely to be found at a puter shop not one of the big box chains

in all honesty i wouldn't be in a rush to replace as long as yours is functioning properly.
