i dont c why not one of my x girl friends is female best friend and have been for years now we do talk about the past from time to time but we both agree we are better this cause if things had worked out back then we might hate each other now

Absolutely! I'm friends with a guy whom I originally met at a roller skating rink when we were both 15, we dated at 35, then I moved out of state and we still talk on the phone from time to time, plus I saw him last year and invited him to my sister's wedding at a park. He's seen me through more than any other male in my life without a doubt.
