Football fans at Appleton East High School in Wisconsin were in the middle of their traditional cheer when police officer Jack Taschner walked into the stands. The crowd thought they were getting in trouble and started to boo him because it looked, at first, like Taschner was telling them to quiet down. But then he surprised them, turning around to actually lead the cheer, stomping his feet and shuffling side to side. “This was an opportunity to build a bridge with the student body, and enjoy the spirit they bring each day to Appleton East,” Taschner, who is no stranger to large crowds at sporting events, told ABC News. Before becoming a police officer, Taschner played professional baseball for the San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers. Unfortunately, the Appleton East team lost the game 49 to 7, but it’s safe to say it wasn’t for lack of enthusiasm. ...love to hear about the good cops ... |

Now if we could just get some more people to "build bridges" and "JUST GET OVER IT" we would be a lot better off.

Now if we could just get some more people to "build bridges" and "JUST GET OVER IT" we would be a lot better off. building bridges is necessary for people to MOVE ON,, . if they can move forward and continue moving forward,,,its ideal 'get over' to me, implies that people should not have human emotional reactions. |

[/quote As the result of getting over it one has to completely forgive,,,commit to it hold no grudges. Yes good article of an officer getting involved in a positive manner with the public. |

...love to hear about the good cops ...
Why does it seem like all the stories about cops doing something "good" are from when they aren't really doing their job? Helping kids get to school, giving away toys, bikes, donations, helping cancer kids, skateboarding, stopping to shoot hoops... Can cops not be considered "good" when they're actually doing their job? And how do you know the cop in the OP is a "good" cop? For all I know he showed up at the game to collect a bet he made against his home team. Fixing it so they'd lose 49-7 because he threatened the local pitcher, coming to the game to remind the kid he was watching. For all I know he showed up at the game to patrol the area since there were reports of hooligans and was checking the area, and was diligently working. But because he did a little dance then he's a "good cop?" |

I disagree.
a cop doing their job is not special, they are compensated for certain expectations. its going above merely what they are 'expected' or 'paid' for that earns them a pat from me. |
