In Case of the Removal of the President from Office, or of his Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the said Office, the Same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly, until the Disability be removed, or a President shall be elected.

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

These Constitutional clauses both allow for the impeachment and OR removal from office, of a President who is clearly acting against the best interests of the American People, and the United States.

The Republicans have already established the precedent that a President who lies to Congress can be impeached. Trump has told more lies than truths, so that's enough. However, I would myself prefer to look at the destructive incompetence he has repeatedly displayed while in office, endangering our military and our intelligence operatives, by openly revealing details of what we now and how we know it; ignoring and even praising attacks by other nations on our soil; that sort of thing.

and what is that "Precedent" pray tell?

The one they established when they impeached Clinton for lying about cheating on Hillary.

Nope,he got IMPEACHED for lying under Oath!

weird how they can't remember their own history... no wonder they want delete it, so they can write it how it suits them...

I follow these political threads and occasionally post. although jokingly at times, but really, I don't have a clue what most of the criticism is about.
Just for once I'd like to see (same in the UK ) the loosing /opposition party to say, oh well, we lost this time, let's get it together and make this work for the country!
Everyone suffers!

Mmm, yes, but there is a rather large difference between calling to "make things work despite the loss," and what Trumps loudest advocates demand, which is that the opposition pretend to adopt in detail, absolutely every single notion that their idol chances to like at one moment or another.

The fundamental element of both American and British government to keep in mind, is that of the LOYAL OPPOSITION. The people who are on the losing side after an election have a duty to continue to oppose what they see as the very bad ideas of the winning side. They must do so WITHIN THE LAW, however, and there have been too many people for a long time now, who forget that part of the deal. Those on what is commonly called the RIGHT are the ones who are MOST abusing this aspect for the last thirty years, though of course there have been abusers on other sides as well.

When the Republicans controlled the Senate and the Democrats controlled the Presidency, for example, we saw numerous examples of the Republicans ignoring their Constitutional duties entirely, in order to effect their opposition. They were a DISLOYAL opposition. And now those same people demand that the Democrats play the part of a SUBSERVIENT opposition.
