Many many profiles have only 3 simple words in the introduction page: HI(in About section) and NO ANSWER (in Physical appearance and Lifestyle).

I consider that "absolutely no sense"; it's extremely private;it sounds mysterious and so incognito. That people doesn't want to give any information about them...and they are looking for love and affection or friendship in this site.It's essential and normal to have some basic information in profile page;just to have an idea of the person; no more than that.But to write nothing at all;it's no sense at 100%.People has the choice;full basic info; only some info or any info.

I think people can put whatever on theor profiles (within site rules) amd if I don't like something, I can bypass it

I don't let people tell me about my profile. I didn't ask for a rating so don't give me one kinda thing

What makes you think they're looking for love and affection?
To me a profile that says "Hi... Tell you later " really says 'whatever' or 'look at me!" Nothing to waste your time over.

The whole internet dating thing can be kind of intimidating. Sometimes people just feel timid. This could be one explanation. I'm sure there are many reasons for their reticence. I do understand why you say it doesn't make sense. It could probably be said that there is a lot about us humans that doesn't make sense.

This isn't just a dating site (hence the other options besides dating)

when I first came in this site ... I thought it was strange but people are strange ...when your a stranger ...

I think conversation with people matters infinitely more than a static profile that can be filled with anything and is generally worthless.

I think if it matters all that much to you, then you should email the people with no info on their profile and ask them about themselves rather than possibly complain they didn't turn their life into cliff notes focused on considering your dating desires.

I think people are looking for a personalized experience with online dating anymore, especially with apps like tinder.
an attempt to treat it like meeting someone at a bar.
I think it's more unusual for people looking for live immediate interaction to rely on an impersonal self description rather than wanting to have it all come out during conversation.

When i first joined, i wasn't quite sure what to write. Now I'm just hete for the forums so i dont bother much with profiles unless somebody's comments impress me or if i want to respond to someone who messaged me and simoly wish them luck

I believe that everyone has their own reasons why they fill up a profile or does not completely fill it up. We cannot blame people if they have fears and hesitations to give out information. And yes it is true that not all members here are looking for a date , some maybe just like the forum and want to gain friends . Anyway, here online it is a fact that people don't trust so easily, there are real and fake people, the profile alone is not a basis to judge someone, though yes it helps and gives us information about the person that we want to talk to. But are we really sure that everything they write is true? I guess not, everyone is a suspect that is why we have to communicate, get connected with whoever we are interested with in order to get to know them well. Only after getting in touch we can make an impression, judgement or discernment depending on the conversations. But yes i would say a good profile helps in some ways for those who seek honest communication, and if you don't fill up a good profile, probably you will have a hard time catching somebody's attention

I think your last sentence explains it all. It's their choice to do so. It might not make sense to you, but it makes perfect sense to them and that's all that matters. It's their profile.
