it is cutting off the nose to spite the face
it is spending more money than it is saving under a guise that adults will not manage their own needs and affairs the difference between the individual interaction between the hypothetical Joe and yourself is that it is an INDIVIDUALs agreement with an INDIVIDUAL taxpayers consist of millions of individuals, not all of whom agree on the intent or purpose of the money 'they' are giving what one taxpayer believes his money should be 'alotted' for may be totally different than the next, multiply that by MILLIONS of taxpayers and the analogy no longer really applies,,, rather than using more money to treat everyone in need like 'potential' abusers of the system, that same investment in living wage OPPORTUNITIES for these individuals to get OUT of need would be more logical |

Just because I don't want my money going to the war effort doesn't mean I don't expect the money that I did add should not be accounted. Tax money is supposed to go to the things the people that paid the taxes agree to. Not all agree but the majority can override it because it is not personal it is public. You focused on the personal aspect of the rag man example and failed to see the similarities to our present situation. rather than using more money to treat everyone in need like 'potential' abusers of the system, that same investment in living wage OPPORTUNITIES for these individuals to get OUT of need would be more logical
To me, I feel that is more illogical than holding people accountable. Holding someone accountable causes them to be efficient and conscientious. They learn skills needed to function effectively. If they need assistance something is obviously wrong. Accountability can contribute to help people get off assistance. Increasing wages will do nothing but change the level of need to a higher dollar sign. Nothing is learned. Not budgeting at $1 ph is the same as not budgeting at $29 ph. How much wage is needed to make people budget their money? Wages go up, cost of living goes up higher. That...Is Throwing money away and devaluation of not only the value of money but the value of personal accountability. I figure it this way. You want my money you show me a receipt for what you bought with it. No receipt, no more money. Just because it is public money should make no difference. You want public money show us a receipt, no receipt, no more money. I mean its not hard to save a receipt. Just don't throw it away. I save mine, not a big deal? Even person to person transactions can have a receipt - Just ask for one. If I sell you my used toaster I'll give you a receipt if you want it. "Such and such bought a used toaster from me for $10 on such and such day, signed my name." Big deal? not really. At least not for things that are legal. |

holding someone 'accountable' allows others to determine every little detail of their lives,, it makes them nearly slaves to other peoples ideals and standards
that food stamps are meant for FOOD, is accountable enough without blowhards determining which 'food' you can eat that cash assistance gives so little for one to live on , is accountable enough without blowhards judging every expenditure like I said, we don't do this with retired vets or government personell, we give the benefit of the doubt to let them make their own determinations we do not need to treat those in need like second rate citizens or babies either,,, help them with opportunities, instead of penny pinch them like children |

that cash assistance gives so little for one to live on , is accountable enough without blowhards judging every expenditure Who is determining? Who is judging? we don't do this with retired vets or government personell, we give the benefit of the doubt to let them make their own determinations
Retired Vets have EARNED their benefits but I still see the same need for accountability for the money from public taxes, even for them. we do not need to treat those in need like second rate citizens
If you are a citizen and NOT PAYING TAXES you ARE a second rate citizen. First rate citizen pay their taxes on the money they EARN. or babies either
Nothing says they are babies, where are you getting that idea? help them with opportunities
Opportunities are abundant. I find opportunities all the time with very little effort. There are resources available to all who want them. Job Fairs, Budgeting classes that are provided by the state, schooling & education materials. Libraries are open to the public. There are community farms and work groups to gain experience. penny pinch them like children
Nobody cares if you make money or not. I taught MY children that you need to work for what you want. It builds responsibility and accountability. I've helped my kids families on occasion but always told them that it was not the solution and that they need to find the solution. I helped them find it but they were the ones that had to act on the opportunities for the solution to take hold. |
