Topic: Is the CV on its death bed? | |
---|---|
With all these advances in technology, Facebook, video recoded phones and on the spot website applications are we looking at the possible extinction of that age old dinosaur called CV's.
I know everybody thinks they have to do them, I know most people hate them. |

Is the CV on its death bed?
For certain jobs, kinda. I would say it's more on the downslope of relevancy than on its death bed, though. I can see more lower level jobs eschewing CV's or resumes for online or real time relevant working examples or tests. Like now if you apply to some banks as a teller they make you play an online game where you provide different types of change, or choose how to respond to a customer. I can see a greater relevancy on what employers can see you do, or will do, rather than read about what you say you can do or have done. I think for more higher end jobs where real time testing isn't all that feasible, CV's and resumes will still hold importance to showcase consistent growing potential, growth, returns, and decision making process. That's still cheaper than paying someone to sift through your facebook and social media and hunt you down over the internet and hope they find something relevant and accurate. CV's and resumes give people relevant information which they can then verify, rather than forcing them to hunt down all information, then pick and choose what is relevant, and then try to verify its accuracy. |
