Topic: Would You Date Someone You Work With? | |

Christmas parties could be awkward, do you use a photo copier at work. What would you need a photo copier for Oh I beg your pardon. It must be a British thing. Some weird and wonderful things get put on photo copiers at Christmas parties in the UK. Here too! I'd never do that, not unless it had a zoom option you'd never see it otherwise. |

Christmas parties could be awkward, do you use a photo copier at work. LOL. No Joe. I work in sports and fitness, not much office work. We do have equipment store cupboards though or as some would call them, Boris Becker rooms |

When I used to work in The Justice System we were all at it. If fact if you weren't sleeping with at least one person from work, you felt offended. It was crazy!

I'm just not into relationships in the work environment. I've been at my work place for a couple years and there are some that have changed partners every other month. To each his/her own, it's just not for me. It gets too weird and I don't want the distraction. |

We most of us are expected to spend increasingly more time at work than ever before. Before getting back into sports I drove buses and coaches. The hours were so unsocial that many of the drivers dated and then would split up and date other drivers. We never had the time to meet people outside of work. Many relationships would start merely by sharing a table in the staff canteens. I left while I was still young enough to pursue a more rewarding career. |

Many relationships would start merely by sharing a table in the staff canteens. I left while I was still young enough to pursue a more rewarding career. I can see that happening and believe that it could work for some...and has. I too spend a lot of time at work and traveling to and from work, very little time for a social life. And I spend a lot of what time I do have online, my own choice. So at times, it seems like a good idea to date someone from work, but I know for me, it wouldn't be a good idea. Thanks Funky for all your input! |

I see it as a sure way to mess your life up in a big way. If you really care about the other person you don't want to mess theirs up easier. It's a stink that can stay on a career for Years. I can see where it might do that. Thanks for sharing! |

No, you are absolutely right! I've seen that a lot where I used to work. And when couples got into a relationship, there was a lot of pointing fingers , he said she said! And it was half the store that picked sides on who they wanted to believe. And they couldn't see themselves looking like a fool ? Or hear about the rumours that went on ? I laughed at all the b.s that went on! I will Not ever date someone in the same work place. Friendship, maybe , go for coffee with a co,worker ? Depends Yes, I have seen what you are saying happen. Thank you for you input Chery10 |

No, I have never and will never date anyone I work with. I find this very unprofessional to be romantically involved with a co-worker.

Hi, and great questions.
Most of us work more (either in the office, or with our kids, or elsewhere) than we don't work, so the opportunity to meet people exists mostly in the workplace, at the grocery store, kid activities, etc. Most of us (that I've met so far) on this site/app are old enough to have cast aside bar-hopping and one-night stands, so what's left? Workplace, grocery store, kid activities... We spend a few minutes in the grocery, an hour or so at kid activities, but nine or so hours a day at work. Obviously, inappropriate requests for dates by co-workers are just that: inappropriate and often grounds for HR action and termination of the offender. That said, if a co-worker you find attractive approaches you appropriately, or vice versa, and you are interested, go for it. If you are offended, report it. |

I have worked with EMEA Teams for a decade, and can categorically reiterate that the copy machines are in play at Christmas parties every year and by most employees. ;-) |

You make very valid points. My question was "Would you date someone in the work place"? So based on your comments, am I correct in assuming you would? |

Hummm well I have never dated those I worked with first I did date a guy for like 4 years then went to work for him and actually worked for him for several years before we broke up..
Would I do it again most likely not... when you break up and still see them every day it's not a good thing.. even tho we still remain civil to each other and still check up on one another...it took some soul searching in order to be able to get to that point.. |

That is a loaded ? in the past worked with x was ok ... and others well know just looked and at this time I am a little free
like a bird ... hard to keep up with what life brings me now but I try ... now if with a partner with the same goals ... that would defiantly work ...if my body & mind allowed ... shrugs ...really don't know ... at this time ... |

No. I was close to dating someone at work I felt a very curious sort of attraction but the guy messed up even before having the chance to date me or touch me in any way.
I believe one should date people at work or very close in the neighborhood. If thugs go wrong, it's hard and awkward to pretend you've never seen each other naked. |
