So my Dr. had me on 2 differant meds for the pain in my legs and back. I was waking up at night with severe heartburn / gerd. Someone mentioned that muscle relaxers can contribute to gerd. I stopped taking one med & cut the other dose down. I'm in pain again but no heartburn so far. (3 nights trying this) Anyone else have problems with meds & side effects?

Hi Dawnette
Yes, that is true...muscle relaxers can contribute to herd. I'm sorry you're in pain...I have a question for you...Aside from taking your medication daily, have you ever taking in consideration using nerve block injections, and other interventions recommended by your doctor.. |

Hi! and Ty Rosemary No I have not dicussed any nerve block injections with my Dr yet . I have had a few other health problems as well, between everything and health insurance issues I'm trying to control the gerd by diet, losing a little weight and otc meds. Originaly we thought it was my galbladder. (which is now gone, soooo...lol)

Im not sure I can do physical therapy, my insurance wont cover that. I try light excersizes & stretches on my own but you are right the numbness never goes away. Gabapentin helps a lot but makes me sick to my stomach. I guess I'm still in the process of finding what wirks for me |

Its partially sciatic Max...I have neropathic nerve damage.Mostly affecting my legs, feet, back and arms sometimes. Its weird. I was just diagnosed last fall so Im still learning. Stretching and excersize helps a little but it also hurts too.

You have three good resources for help with pain control where you live.
1)Resources for Independent Living Center for a multitude of resources. 2) Easter Seals usually have or have a cooperative agreement for hydrotherapy that includes a knowledgeable PT that can make you a personal self therapy program on sliding scale ( probably free) 3) YWCA. Has sliding scale memberships for you (and kids) that often includes hydrotherapy, cushioned walking tracks, and other exercise options from beginer to aadvanced. I recommend chair yoga as a great stress reliever and consequently pain reliever. While it is not a resource slightly elevating the head of your bed will often help your gerd as does NOT eating/drinking/smoking the last hour before bed. And consciously cutting up or chewing your food better so your stomach doesn't have to work overtime to digest your food. Feel better soon. |

I've never heard of nerve block injections, but that sounds extreme to me, sometimes it's better to just deal with the pain than too get too much done. |
