I've been receiving notices from the company that provides my cable/internet about Digital Phone, coming soon. Don't know anyone who uses digital phone - what would be the benefit ( other than a package deal saving some $) Does anyone have digital phone? |

I use Voice Over IP through my internet provider. I can't really say that it provides any benefits besides being on the same bill as my cable TV and internet services. In fact, I'm kind of disgruntled with the company because they told me that the phone would plug into the CABLE BOX and it actually plugs into a special CABLE MODEM that they're now renting to me, even though I OWN a regular cable modem.

That's kind of what I was thinking - they just want more $ from me. Here's another dumb-girl question: now if the power goes out I still have phone service but if its through my computer and the computer battery only last so long, am I SOL? At least for home phone? do you actually use a regular phone? Will I need more than one modem if I have more than one phone? I haven;t replied to their e-mails yet; I don't want to call and convince them I know nothing Thanks for the feedback ephraimglass |

all these companies ont more money from the people, renting or bying a modem or somethingh else. Just take into account that all those things need power, so your powerbill will rise ass well

I really guess that it is according to the company if it any good or not. It has gotten alot better now than it used to be. Be careful though, I know someone that payed for a whole years worth of service, and only ended up with 3 months service. Out of pocket. Company shut down. I don't think that you would have any problems with bigger companies like Comcast though. You can try skype out though. It is cheap. You can even buy a skype phone from a local walmart. With a skype account, all you have to basicly do is plug in and talk.

Yes, I do use Skype and its a lifesaver ...but this is more for regular and long distance service ...in genreal..I know lots of people who don't *gasp* use the net. Thanks for the info though. |
