dont worry about it..babies develop at different rates...whats right for one is not right for another...your kid will let yyou know what she wants or doesnt want.

I started feeding my son cereal at that age and all was good. I really wouldn't recommend too much of the other things. But the cereal and possibly yogurt (yobaby or dannon la creme is what my doc recommended at that age) was fine.

what kind of baby food are you giving your child? if this is the first baby food she is getting, you should start out with something like bananas. Not vegetables or meats. WIC has a chart they hand out that tells you what kind of food babies can have and when. actually, of the jarred food, start with bananas. You can also give your baby some dry/instant baby cereal, mixed with a little bit of formula and bananas.

as a mother, you know what is right. go by your instincs, and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. i have 5 kids, and all are different, i did what i knew was right for each one.

Hey there, I agree with the others, follow instinct. But you have to keep this in mind , usually when you start baby food, it is recommended that you begin with cereal...it is important that you introduce one item at the time due to possible food allergies. You know she is fine with formula..use it to mix the cereal with and give it to her either during the evening meal. A lot of times a baby's diaper habits will change because they are going from an all liquid diet to something more solid and it is recommended to introduce juice as well. Because I didn't want to overload my children with unnecessary calories, I'd usually add an extra ounce of water to each bottle and dilute the juice by 1/3 to begin with. By doing this, your baby gets plenty of hydration and you aren't over feeding them. Usually 32 oz of formula a day is the norm, 6 oz of juice and then cereal. Also, if you decide to use jarred baby food, do as the other suggested, begin with fruit and introduce one thing at the time...for about a week to make sure that your baby doesn't have a food allergy. Watch for symptoms like a cough or runny nose in addition to rashes. Hope this helps and good luck to you!

When my kids were that age the dr suggested the baby cereal and the first foods but just the simple ones...bananas, pears applesauce along with the formula, they said not to take any formula away but to add some of the other stuff with it

personally, i think it's too early.

the problem with giving food when they are this young is that they don't properly digest it. the food then blocks the nutrition from the the formula or breast milk, which in effect is putting the babe on a diet, literally.

while it's fun to experiment and watch their faces as they get to try new things...it's best to wait until they are AT LEAST six months, if nursing, and maybe a bit younger if formula feeding.

another problem with early solids: higher susceptibility to allergies.

formula/breast milk should be the staple of a baby's diet until they are at least twelve months...with nursing continued as long as mutually comfortable.

both my kids were good eaters and started on cereal at 4 months.my son has never fit anything in a book ever so you need to be the judge and keep your pediatrician informed of what the child is eating and any negative reactions..

it's not too soon for baby food, heck my brother was just over a month old when my grandfather started feeding him Thanksgiving dinner.just make sure the baby food doesn't have chunks in it and he should be fine
