Ok, so, I'm finally at a point in my life where I'd like to get out once in a while & get the chance to meet someone or go on a date, but I only have a couple of family members to babysit. How do you go about finding people that can babysit that you trust? I'd like a little bit of a life outside of work & mommy, but my family members are not often available, & most of my friends' kids are already grown, so they aren't into sitting. Plus, I'm on a really tight budget. Any suggestions?

maybe you can swap off babysitting services with another mom who is in the same situation

I am sorry, but I wish I knew that question, as TRUST is the biggest issue hear, and that is very hard to do...first thing get a camera, after doing an struggle to find one, then once you think you have one, pretend your going out, but come back in a half and hour and check things out, tell them that the date did'nt work out, then check the web cam and see...

Hope more ppl. have other ideas for your search...

Hugs

Yeah, the trust part is the biggest part for me. I just don't get out to meet alot of people, including other moms & the babysitting sites I've seen are like $15.00/hr. Yeah, not on my budget! lol My daughter is 2, so I'm not meeting moms at school either & you know daycare, everyone is in & out in a rush. Thanks for the ideas! They are good, so maybe I can find a way to impliment some of them.

Not really, but maybe I can ask some of the lady's who work at the daycare to ask around some. Probably part of the trust thing is also that I know what kind of a teenager I was. That's not a good thought! lol.

When I had to hire a sitter to go out, we hired our best friends daughter. She was wonderful with our son. She watched him for about 6 years and then we broke up. She offered to keep babysitting but at the time, I never really went anywhere.
I only left my son with my family and Kris, so it is really hard to trust people to babysit!! I would suggest finding someone that is really close to you and ask their daughter? Kris was 13 when she started, so she was at the perfect age.
Good luck..I know its very hard to trust anyone flowerforyou

Some high schools have child development programs or babysitting clubs, you could check there. Also, a lot of community colleges have child development programs and the students are always looking for experience. That's how my sister found her last two sitters for the summer.

Hope it helps.

if you lived closer i would recommend mine- she's in high school- a senior- very controlling parents so she's pretty wild- lol no she's really a good girl- she charges whatever i can give her- my son has autism so the whole trust thing and babysitters is so scary but she is so good with him-and she adores kids. i got lucky. check the high schools- the allied health classes - any babysitting classes would have kids interested in babysitting and then just test the person- show up at random times- call frequently- you'll find someone.

Do a back ground check on anyone who you would have sit for you... You can never be safe enough when it comes to your children.
Nanny cam would'nt be a bad idea either...

I know here at our school..now they offer kids that babysit. The teachers actually give them a reference, plus they do it to earn money to go on school trips. All I can say is that I am happy my boys are older now flowerforyou
