I would dig a hole,
put the phone in the hole place a tree sapling in the hole then back fill.... That should root the phone....

Brother!! .. You're hopeless environmentalist .. but those phones are so smart that your solution might even work .. and when the tree is grown big enough you can pick brand new smartphones from it as many as you want and whenever you want lol
