From what I have observed over the years, PDoA is most common amongst younger lovers, rebelling (or imagining they are rebelling) against societal disapproval of PDoA.
In addition, there are plenty of unconscious or hidden motivations behind PDoA for many people. As some have said, it can be a territorial/possessiveness display to others; it can be a manipulation trick (either of the target person directly, perceived sexual competitors, and even of circumstances)... ... and of course, it can simply be people who think it's find to do all sorts of things in public, that many others don't. As with everything people do, the one wise thing is, not to assume you know what's going on in each instance. |
