I recall the day you were born
My life no longer forlorn You changed me in an instant My life consumed by this beautiful infant I'd look in on you each night, the relief when I saw you breathing How proud I felt, I'd pinch myself sometimes to be sure I wasn't dreaming You grew into the sweetest girl Cute smile and lots of curls I smiled the day you leanred to fasten your own laces You went running 'round telling everyone, like you were the greatest You'd fall and weep, how I wish I could feel your pain I wrote a poem once, while thinking of you, called 'only hope remains' You've done so well at school, making me so proud I want to shout it from the rooftops, make sure everyone knows and yell it out loud You'll soon be making your way out into this world Pretty smile and lots of curls I can only pray your life is happy and long How I wish I could sit you on my knee just one more time, and sing the Barney song |
