Tell him the truth. But, also think about what is more important to you, your relationship with your family or this man, before you make any rash decisions.

If you are really into him then you need to tell your mom to get off of her high horse. tell her if she doesnt like it then she better fake it and make it good. You being happy is what's important and if he is the one who does it then stick with him.

You need to figure what you want. Then go from there.Involve your friend as much as possible. Then talk to Mom if needed.

Everyone has given great advices. I dated an indian man, and didn't give any thot to what my family thought.. they would either accept him or not.. and we lived our lives not caring and in the end, the family and friends will see how happy you are.. and set it aside.

But yes its out there where the family doesn't like, where you never thought it would be that they were racist.. but they are.. just because they dont understand it.. and choose not to.

Talk to him, explain.. and if he's still there.. you then tell your family this is what you want.. and they can accept.. or move on..
