Three Police Officers Killed by Multiple Attackers in Baton Rouge

Three police officers were shot to death and several others wounded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday, the city's mayor said, as the country remained on edge in the wake of police shootings of black men and the killings of five Dallas officers.

The officers in Baton Rouge were responding to a call of shots fired when they were ambushed by at least one gunman, Mayor Kip Holden told NBC News.

One suspect is dead and police are checking the shooting scene with a robot to make sure there are no explosives, Baton Rouge Police spokesman L'Jean Mckneely said.

Police told reporters authorities are seeking more than one suspect and said the public should be on the lookout for people dressed in black and carrying long guns.

Earlier, a spokesman for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said police and sheriff's deputies were involved in the shooting incident, which occurred around 9 a.m. local time.

"Multiple officers from both agencies sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals," he said in an email. He said there were no firm numbers on the number hurt or the extent of injuries.

The only thing we can be sure of is that it was a senseless murder of our peace officers. Not every cop kills a black person, and not every ambush is BLM. Imo

Come on people, we all know its white mans fault. White man is the ones who brought them over here. White man is the ones that freed them from slavery. It was white man who gave them rights. Black people didn't like segregation, but that seems to be what they are looking for now. You would think they should be a lot more concerned about black people shooting black people than the few that are actually shot by cops. Black lives matter should be more about controlling their own people than the cops. BLM consists of a hell of a lot of white people too, I think it has to do with being seen, not being heard. In this political correct society that people are pushing for where girls can be boy scouts,boys can be girl scouts, and blacks can join the KKK doesn't always make sense! Black man has more rights than white man (affirmative action) so its about time they get over somethings and move forward, and quit living in the past! Fernando didn't get shot by a Mexican cop cuz he was black, he got shot cuz his girlfriend wouldn't shut up. Just listening to her made him confused enough to shot someone. President Obama must be getting to the point where he reminds people he is half white too, and that's probably his better half. Most Americans have a least some nationality mix in them,or their immediate family does, so why does it always keep coming back to race?
