General Mills recalls more than 3 million pounds of pizza products
Thursday, November 1, 2007, 4:16 PM by John Perkins General Mills Operations, based in Wellston, Ohio, has issued a voluntary recall for "approximately 3.3 million pounds" of frozen pizza products containing meat due to possible E. coli 0157:H7 contamination. According to the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the products were distributed nationwide and may be linked to what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention calls "a multi-state cluster of E. coli 0157:H7 illnesses" in Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. Recalled products are: 10.2-ounce packages of: "Totino's The Original Crisp Crust Party Pizza Pepperoni", "Totino's The Original Crisp Crust Party Pizza, Classic Pepperoni" and "Totino's The Original Crisp Crust Party Pizza, Pepperoni Trio" 10.7-ounce packages of "Totino's The Original Crisp Crust Party Pizza, Combinations Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza" 10.5-ounce packages of "Totino's The Original Crisp Crust Party Pizza, Canadian Style Bacon & Pepperoni Pizza" 10.9-ounce packages of "Totino's The Original Crisp Crust Party Pizza, Supreme Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza with Green Peppers and Onions" 6.8-ounce packages of "Jeno's Crisp 'N Tasty Pizza, Pepperoni" 7.0-ounce packages of "Jeno's Crisp 'N Tasty Pizza, Combination Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza" 7.2-ounce packages of "Jeno's Crisp 'N Tasty Pizza, Supreme Sausage and Pepperoni with Green Peppers and Onion Pizza" The products recalled were produced on or before October 30, are marked with establishment number "EST. 7750" inside the USDA inspection mark and have "best if used by" dates on or before "02 APR 08". Consumers with questions can call the company's consumer hotline at (800) 949-9055. |
