Set restrictions on whom you want to contact you. But there are a lot of scammers and spammers and fakeroos in all dating sites specially free ones. Report them and never send money to anyway.

.. all they want is money and I joined this site so I don't have to spend money. Hi and welcome! Nope, "they" don't want your money. It's all free, but you will get a bunch of extra features, when you'll pay for it. And running a website is not free for Mingle. It takes a good will of volunteers , time and effort, plus money of course. So spending a few bucks for this site is definitely not a wasted thing. But it's up to you - still free to use
