Universities Are Singling Out White Students For ‘Education Sessions’

Peter Hasson

http://dailycaller.com/2016/04/13/universities-are-singling-out-white-students-for-education-sessions/

In just the latest instance of a taxpayer-funded university singling out white students for privilege-shaming “education sessions,” the University of Wisconsin-Madison hosted a special workshop on Tuesday for the purpose of getting white students to acknowledge and confront their own white privilege.

According to the university website, “The Privilege of Whiteness” workshop was designed for white people to “reflect on and name the ways their privilege impacts their beliefs and behaviors by gaining the skills to identify the historical roots of White privilege and how it manifests today.” Prospective attendees were informed that the workshop was “designed for a White audience,” although “People of color” were still welcome.

The workshop is one of a handful of “education sessions” offered through the university’s Morgridge Center for Public Service. Students wishing to participate in the university’s Badger Volunteers program are required to attend at least one of the education sessions.

The University of Wisconsin is just the latest university to single out white students for privilege-shaming workshops.

In January, Oregon State University — another taxpayer-funded institution — hosted racially-segregated “social justice retreats,” with separate but equal workshops for white, non-white and mixed-race students. While the white students’ retreats focused on their “white privilege,” the retreats for the non-white students sought to “empower students of color.”

Last November, the University of Vermont held a three-day retreat

so students who “self-identify as white” could confront their own “white privilege.” The university covered all expenses — including food, travel, and housing — for students attending the retreat. Like Wisconsin and OSU, the University of Vermont is taxpayer-funded.

Earlier this semester, Northwestern University (a private institution) held a six-week “social justice education” retreat for students who “self-identify as white.” As The Daily Caller reported back in February:

A flier advertising the program states that “Deconstructing Whiteness” is intended to answer questions white students might have about race such as “Why do I have to feel guilty about being white?” or “How can I talk about race as a white person?” or “What does it mean to be white?”

The University of Wisconsin-Madison did not return TheDC’s request for comment by press time.

hmmmm let me reflect.

My white privilege meant I had to WORK for everything I have.
My white privilege meant that I wasn't admitted to MSU in the 70's while people with a LOWER GPA got admitted.
My white privilege means as white man I can NEVER be a victim.
My white privilege means I'm responsible for all the past wrongs done in America, even those before my family immigrated LEGALLY to the USA.
My white privilege means that I'm responsible for funding the irresponsible behavior of others, even other white people.
My white privilege according to some is shameful and should become a burden.

Universities Are

big businesses that invest hundreds of millions of dollars daily and own tons of assets like oil fields.
They love receiving tuition and being the recipient of crap tons of free money from state or federal government and stupid students whom take out ever increasing loans for an ever decreasing (in value) degree.

In just the latest instance of a taxpayer-funded university...The University of Wisconsin is

pandering to millennials and the students who keep paying them mo' money mo' money mo' money.

Other than that, huge difference between:
Singling Out White Students For ‘Education Sessions’

and
Prospective attendees were informed that the workshop...advertising the program states that “Deconstructing Whiteness

The former implies forced attendance.
The latter, from the actual article, shows them to be optional classes or workshops.

Huge difference between "during orientation, all you white people have to take this class/do this workshop," vs. "please join us in this class/workshop, where we discuss/do...."

Schools are always offering crap classes for students.
Film and history, how to watch t.v., what if harry potter is real, how to win a beauty pageant, stupidity, tattoos, sociology of miley cyrus, klingon and other made up languages, cross dressing throughout history.

This whole "white guilt" curriculum would matter if this was like the 20th anniversary of it starting, and attendance was mandatory.

Otherwise it's just a class for marketing purposes they threw out there because some liberal a-hole is playing politics to justify their job or tenure.

-------
No point in acknowledging something that does NOT exist,
( like ' White Privilege.')
Just another attempt at a 'shame & blame game'
And a manipulation strategy for a culture that refuses to advance & take responsibly & consequences, like all the other cultures.
And unfortunately still has it's hand out.

" It's all your fault. So kiss my whiny butt & take care of us "
Hhhaaa.. NO noway

privilege conjures up guilt for some who project it as something to feel guilt about

for those who just seek to aknowledge it,, it just as often can conjure up empathy and consideration of things bigger than themselves

for instance , I have no disabilities, which gives me certain natural advantages in life over those with them
I don't feel any guilt about that , I just recognize it as reality

and recognizing it causes me to recognize the uniquely different steps disabled may have to do to perform the same tasks I regularly take for granted

in fact working with the disabled, I was offered similar workshops to learn about their struggles,,,

I can climb into and out of just about every vehicle with ease, and without any special efforts to assist me

I can park as far away as needed and take for granted walking to my location with relative ease and non obstruction

etc,,etc,,

these are advantages that come as a natural result of physical condition

there are also advantages that come as a result of systematic conditions

no doubt, some see that as some invitation to feel 'guilt',,and that's too bad

but I see it as facing realities so that we can understand the struggles of others and learn to appreciate the blessings of our own by compariso

Blah blah blah...
People, communities, need to work for it, earn it, except consequences, shut the hell up & get on with their lives. Like everyone else & every other group.

Change begins within.
Trying to change other people or manipulate them (in any way) is dysfunctional will only p*** them off. It is self defeating.

The little commies think this is 1917 again.

The only problem is the bourgeoisie is better armed and won't wait to crush the rebellion.

rofl Oh for heavens sake.
How liberal typical.

If you don't give me what I want or do what I want or act the way I want, then something is wrong with you & I will call you names & maybe flip a car. huh

'White Guilt' lasted about 15 minutes. And then those people woke up from their nap. laugh
And ' White Privilege', few are actually going to believe.
" Whiteness Month ", didn't fly either. And ' Caucasian T- Shirts ', backfired & are making ONE couple rich.

Give it up already. An entire country of white people, Asian etc.. Is NOT going to k*** *** for 12-13% of a population that refuses to CHANGE themselves individually and as a whole/ community.

I agree so the universities should design a class for a black audience teaching them the what is an isn't racism.

I.E someone saying I prefer to date white women isn't racist....it's preference

someone saying why yes your qualified for this job, but I don't hire bacl people...is racist.

A university course designed around teaching black people how to feel and how systemical racism is a thing if the past. ...dont worry it won't be mandated. ..so no issues with this typedof a course

and you shouldn't have guilt

its not about that, its about awareness

but marketing is everything,, and people buy what appeals to them

I don't feel any 'guilt' about the advantages of being born American, of being able bodied, or being straight

but I am AWARE of some of the obstacles posed by being not native, disabled, or homosexual , and how I never have to give a second thought to things they regularly deal with
