Obama seeks hike in post-presidency payments http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/03/18/obama-seeks-hike-in-post-presidency-payments.html?intcmp=hpbt1/ President Obama sought to increase the amount of money available for the federal government to spend on former presidents in advance of his White House exit. In his budget requests for fiscal years 2016 and 2017, Obama proposed hikes in the appropriations for expenditures of former presidents, according to a report from the Congressional Research Service published Wednesday. The report, which discusses the pensions and other federal benefits offered to former commanders-in-chief by way of the Former Presidents Act, specifies that Obama’s 2017 budget proposes a nearly 18 percent hike in appropriations for expenditures of former presidents. He successfully requested an increase in such appropriations for fiscal year 2016. “The President’s FY2017 budget request seeks $3,865,000 in appropriations for expenditures for former Presidents, an increase of $588,000 (17.9%) from the FY2016 appropriation level. The increase in requested appropriations for FY2017 anticipates President Barack Obama’s transition from incumbent to former President,” the report reads. “For FY2016, President Obama requested and received appropriations of $3,277,000 for expenditures for former Presidents–an increase of $25,000 from FY2015 appropriated levels.” The Former Presidents Act, enacted in 1958, provides living former presidents with a pension, office staff and support, funds for travel, Secret Service protection, and mailing privileges. It also provides benefits for presidential spouses. Currently, former presidents are awarded a pension equal to the salary of cabinet secretaries, which totaled $203,700 for the 2015 calendar year and was boosted by $2,000 for the current calendar year. ----------------- Annual Allowance For Presidents & First Ladies http://www.graphiq.com/wlp/b0rQG4mf24Z/ * Mrs Nancy Reagan received 0% * |

Obama Wants A Post Presidency Raise
Of course he does. Didn't he say he was going to take a 5% pay cut in like 2013/14, due to sequestration? If he did, he has to make up for that money some how. I mean when someone in the private sector increases revenues they usually demand a pay raise and bonus. Obama has increased revenue (taxes) by a huge amount during his tenure at the "helm." So...he's just getting his "fair share" for a job well done for the company. Why do they...former presidents, congressmen, and senators...get a damn dime is what I wanna know
Because they can. How many people aren't going to vote themselves a raise, increase in income, especially when their pay is in no way related to their performance, or even to what a company can afford to keep afloat, but their needs, wants, and morality about what they think they deserve? |

and in todays lesson in reading comprehension
'Currently, former presidents are awarded a pension equal to the salary of cabinet secretaries, which totaled $203,700 for the 2015 calendar year and was boosted by $2,000 for the current calendar year. ' means a raise of 1% 'appropriations' is the amount for all 5 presidents including not JUST pension, but medical costs, secret service cost, and payment for those in their employ |

He should be issued a 7-11 franchise in Detroit.. that's about it. |

Obonzo deserves NOTHING when he leaves office. Oh he deserves semething all right. A one way trip to Leavenworth! |
|
|
|
One of the more asinine aspects of
Obonzo's request, is the inclusion of a pension for first lady Michael Obama. Wtf? Never in the history of our nation, has first lady been entitled to a pension. Other than being disbarred, first lady Michael Obama hasn't really done anything for the good of the nation. |
