them both "ADAM". Makes one wonder why then some think women are the lessor. beneath, smaller than, weaker. It was Adam that named woman "Eve".

Good morning sweet man. Hope all is well with you my friend.
Genesis 5:1-2 - "This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man , in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created." Now the name "Eve" means "mother of all living". Got that. Now the name "Adam" if researched can mean "blood of God". I was looking and wondered where did Adam get his blood? If research is correct...it means "blood of God". Does our blood come from our fathers? Kat |

Words are constructs of men. Did Adam mean “blood of God” prior to God using that word? Or was that meaning attributed to the word after the fact? Of course, you know my stance on the whole thing. I believe that the entire story is a construct of man so the question is moot for me. But for those who are trying to make sense of it, does it really make any sense that words had definite meanings before man invented language? |

I don't know Abra. I was trying to get a conversation going and see that it was redone elsewhere. Whatever it takes to get it going. I really just wanted to talk about things.
You bring up good points as always. But....wasn't the word or words God mentioned even before Jesus? Kat |

Some men would actually say she was not named Eve...but evil.
Gandhi said it best... Honest differences are often a healthy sign of progress. Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress. You are correct Abra on languages and meanings thereof...what I do find fascinating is alphabetics in the Bible. lj |

Wow, I never caught that he named them Adam. Kind of makes the old saying of, "I don't know you from Adam" mean something, Kat.

woman being weaker
is a farse brought forth by the women of many years ago to dain an upper hand in the over all relationship between man and woman anyone with any observation skills at all knows woman is the strongest and the more wicked of the genders [this is gonna get me pummeled] |

If you go back to Genesis 2:24 you get what in writing is called foreshadowing and another word which I can't remember now but concerns writing about airplanes before airplanes were invented.

Adam and Eve didn't even have children, yet and it is like an editor was trying to make a point in Genesis 2:24.

Unless of course this is saying that God is saying that the couple Adam is his children.

Personally I am glad that Adam was discontented with the animals. I have always prefer women over animals. But that is just me.

I guess if Adam didn't like Eve then he really couldn't blame God because God let him check out all the animals but I guess Adam was just picky and wanted something more like himself.

It does make one wonder though if the couple was named Adam and Eve was a first name given by the man then what was the first name of the man?

Genesis 3:17 is really something because it looks like God is saying you should have listened to me instead of your wife.
