Topic: Why suffering...

Why do people accept suffering into their lives?
What is the attraction that
keeps people coming back for more?
Living suffering
...loving suffering
......longing for its return,
even when
...a taste of happiness
teases their heartstrings.

Why do people accept suffering into their lives?
Is suffering such a companion
that the thought of laughter
and the freedom that it produces
sends a chill of fear up their spine?
...an uncomfortable feeling of
exhilaration that is too much to handle?

Why do people accept suffering into their lives?
Can they not see that suffering is merely
a re-living of an experience of
something not wanted in their life?
That they continue to give life
to the experience
by holding onto it with the intensity
of their feelings?

Why do people accept suffering into their lives?
Have they never experienced
...joy and contentment?
The freedom that comes from
allowing life to flow around them
...and through them,
to hold each precious moment in the palm
of their open hand,
...enjoying it
......cherishing it
.........experiencing it
and then...letting it go,
like a delicate butterfly
in the summer sun,
to fly off and find its way
to another heart.

It's not the allowing it, it is the overwhelming of it...with no other feelings of what you have mentioned, to venture to, some would say without guidence, someone to share, to help move away from all the hurt inside.

Everyone needs a helping hands for some of us are too weak to stand alone, or do not know how, to push forward.

Nicely written piece though,

but as the saying goes, again I will say,"you got to walk a mile in my shoes.

Here's a thought. You're born in India. The religion, the caste system, the Hindi language, and the cobra's are all you know because that is all you have been exposed to. Now, one day, you end up by some weird quirk of fate in America in Minnesota (no poisonous snakes). Would this not be an extremely foreign experience for you?

The poem was excellent by the way.

I don't think anyone wants to accept suffering in their lives, but sometimes might not have another choice, or just so down on themselves, they think that is what they deserve.brokenheart

You know...it's really nice to hear more than one word responses. Thank you

This is the consensus I'm hearing. If there is a way to live without suffering and/or overcome suffering that already exists, then it would seem logical to choose a way out of suffering rather than settle for "it's my destiny?"

The reason for this poem is partly to stir within one the curiosity that sparks an individual into wondering...maybe there is a way out of suffering. At that point the process of resolution begins. It may start to blossom immediately, or it may take lifetimes.

The other part of the reason for this poen is that I already know suffering can be resolved and I felt it a privelege to share the gift of this poem with others, whether they accept it on any level, or reject it completely.

Namaste friends...

In most of our lives....we have found suffering....from what began as Happiness......
Life, without pain...is not living
It's not that any relish the suffering......
it's the learning to rise above the fear of what happiness has led to in our lives.
I would rather suffer a thousand times.......than fear the giving of my heart!!

To accept suffering means you had accepted hppiness cause seems that no matter what the pain comes after things that we have gained so one must accept it in order to deal with it and get past it.

Thanks Ghostrider...Txs, responses well received. I understand that suffering and happiness are flipsides of each other in this dual world we live in. The learning comes when we are able to see the two sides of the coin, rise above it and live from a higher perspective. flowerforyou

It is said that failure is the first steps to success, unfortunately not everyone caught up in a suffocating situation can see this ( and it is ), we all have our moments of weakness. The key is to recognize a bad situation and plan our escape from it. A very good piece of work, very well thought of and very well executed in your writing
