Well I don't know about others but it is official my utility bill was greater than my mortgage. I don't know how younger people are going to manage. I am glad to see gasoline prices dropping here in the USA but wow getting ridiculous. I wonder how some of our young brainiacs can fix this?

Its getting that way here in Oz....
Ever since our gov sold off the utilities to pay their way out of debt....
The private companies have continually jacked up the prices....
Record levels of disconnections happening all over the country....
And we now pay for water....that was a major shock....
Where will it end...goodness only knows...

All will be fine, trust the banks. laugh They will just print more money and loan it out into the market to pay the inflated bills. Paper is cheap to print, soooo just keep adding zero's. Remember banks hate paper and trade it for something of value. We all are happy to be "paper rich" love
CDN $ I'm hoping is headed to .50 U.S. $

Have you figured out WHY your utility bill is so high? If, for example, you are in an all-electric house (briefly popular in the 1960's, when electricity was cheap), then that's your problem.

Humm hell mine are always higher then my mortgage..... Ohhh yea I don't have a mortgage... already paid my house off..

But I have never had a problem with utility bills. I live in Texas sure my electric in the summer gets mighty close to $300 but well worth it when it is 100+ outside..

Love this time of year for my electric drops below $100 due to I have gas heat and the gas bill only goes up about 50- 70 at the most.

As far as the gas prices going down whole different subject.. Even though it is nice to see the prices go down. Most have no clue the impact it is doing to the economy... But enjoy those prices many are left without jobs and businesses are folding due to it.. slaphead

I live in a very mild climate so my utilities are next to nothing."Nothing could be finer then to live in Carolina".

True our oil field states are taking big hits for sure.

It is time for me to ditch a couple of older appliances that I am sure are running up my utility bill.

That and leaving on so many lights for security. I sometimes wonder if having it so easy for burglars to snoop around outside when I am sleeping is better than if I didn't just string a little shock wire. Lol At least if they contacted that they would pay a price for their thievery.

My citrus trees were all but stripped again this year. It is frustrating to water and keep something growing to give to the food bank then know some thief swipes them and sells them. I do love the smell of the orange blossoms.

Those citrus swiping regulars are probably keeping the heavy lifters away; laugh so better to keep them lights on. CFLs, one fifth the power consumption for same lumens plus a 6 year, rough weather, reliability. In India, there's been significant shift to CFLs.

Many times if utility bills are outrages. It is time to check your Central heat and Air System it is time to update your unit.. I have a older unit outside but put in a new inside unit a few years ago.. The next major thing will be to replace the outside unit..

Have been told it will drop my electric bill in half.. due to it is 24 years old...

Also make sure you change your filters on a regular bases.. Get light bulbs that are energy efficient..

Actually I use to run all my ceiling fans 24/7 by turning them off except when I'm in the room dropped my electric bill by at least $30 month.. Also make sure your place is sealed caulking, windows that air is coming in around cracks.. Seems small thing to do but it will save you in the end..

Star, sounds like you need a dog, not a cute little ankle bitter, but about 70 pounds of teeth, like I have. One, they keep your feet warm in the winter, because they like to lay on your feet, thus saving on utilities, at least here in Ohio. Plus, lazy thieves, which is what I classify all thieves as lazy, won't risk getting bit over a few oranges. My puppy knows when anyone is close to the house or in the backyard. So the cost of dog food will be offset by the lower utility cost.

It's one of the last things I was thinking about while celebrating new year. I didn't take well to getting back to normal everyday life. You just wish you could stay in merry Christmas mode, but yeah, I realize we have no choice but to get back to normal life. Seems the holiday season is over before it even starts. Was good while it lasted. Another year flown by without making any difference.

Both federal parties finally got their act together. The Provincial is a mess, just a big mess. I do not know how long City hall will put-up with it.
