Report Warns Britain of Rising Obesity

LONDON (AP) - Most British citizens could be obese by 2050, a new government report warns, and the nation's health secretary called Wednesday for a fundamental shift in the way the nation tackles obesity.

Health Secretary Alan Johnson didn't blame British eating habits, calling obesity "a consequence of abundance, convenience and underlying biology."

"As this report starkly demonstrates, people in the U.K. are not more gluttonous than previous generations and individual action alone will not be sufficient," he said in a speech to Parliament.

The obesity analysis by the Foresight program, run by the Office for Science, concludes that excess weight has become the norm and described Britain as an "obesogenic" society.

Obesity costs Britain the equivalent of $90 million a year already.

Just like everything that comes from the US.
Never anything good coming from there.

I'm getting tired of all this fatty bashing by news people. Some of us are fat because our bodies are made that way. We all ain't gonna be totally ripped and thin and skinny.

If I see one more skinny blonde air head on TV tell me "fat people are taking over runnnNnnn! if they touch us we will be fat too!" I'm going to punch the TV. I'm tired of being treated like some farking monster because of something I can't control without surgery.

Its not against certain people on this site, but I see stories like that all the time on TV news and such. Like the "obese epidemic" that was top story for a few weeks, and it always showed super fat people just walking around doing normal human things while the voice over guy was like "90% of Americans are fat" and I'm like "wtf, so your part of the 10% of special thin people who have a right to look down on us?"
