My idea for a children's picture book. Its not finished(obviously) but i would like some honest feedback.




Jo is an adorable little Boxer pup with a bright tan coat and big brown eyes with black rings around them like a raccoon! She has floppy black ears that jiggle when she walks and a little stub for a tail that wiggles when she is happy. But Jo is most known for her four big white paws!

Jo lives with her family - a loving mom and dad named Winnie and Fred, a Persian cat named Walter, and Jo’s favorite family member, a beautiful 5 year old girl named Jada

Jo is a friendly pup who loves to be helpful. On one particular morning Jo woke up feeling extra helpful

“After breakfast I am going to help someone. I wonder who needs my help today! ” thought Jo

So Jo went into the kitchen to have her breakfast. While she was eating her kibble Jo noticed Walter the cat looking at her. “Hmmmmm, Walter looks hungry! I bet he would like some of my breakfast” thought Jo.

Jo picked up her bowl in her mouth and began to walk over to offer some breakfast to Walter. But as soon as she took a step she spilled her kibble all over the kitchen floor! Jo looked at the kibble spread out all over the floor. Then Jo looked at Walter. Walter looked at Jo as if to say “You and your big paws did it this time! Mommy is going to be upset with you for spilling your breakfast.” Jo felt terrible and slumped off to look for mom to tell her what happened.

When Jo found Mom she was just finishing folding the laundry to take upstairs and put away. Jo thought “Maybe if I help mom with the laundry she will not be upset that I spilled my breakfast!” In her excitement to run over and help Mom, Jo stumbled over her big paws again! This time Jo did not spill anything. But she did bump into mommy’s legs, causing her to lose her balance and spill the laundry all over the floor! “Jo, look at what you did! You and your big paws made me spill the laundry all over the floor!” Jo walked away sadly and looked for Dad... Maybe he needs my help.


Jo found Dad outside on a ladder painting the garage. Jo thought to himself "That is a lot of painting to do. Maybe I can help Dad paint." Jo picked up a brush in her mouth and ran eagerly toward the ladder. But in her excitement she stumbled over her big paws and fell into the ladder, causing Dad's paint can to fall from the ladder and spill all over the driveway! "Jo! Look what those big paws have done! Go back in the house!”

Jo turns and slowly walks back to the house feeling terrible, as if her big paws are good for nothing, when she she hears Jada crying in her bedroom.


Jo walks in, sits down in front of Jada and looks up as if to ask "Why are you sad Jada?"
"Oh Jo,"said Jada, "INSERT REASON FOR SADNESS"

Jo stands up, putting her big paws on Jada's shoulders(or around Jada's neck?)

"Oh Jo! You always make me feel better. You and your big paws give the best hugs!"

(Then Mom Dad and Walter also got hugs )
