You would do well to look up the various definitions of the words themselves, but in order to help you best here, you should describe to us WHY you are asking.

Has someone presented you with a situation where the definitions of these words are of special importance?

Has someone called upon you to trust them, or to show them loyalty? What are the circumstances?

Loyalty is especially of concern. Each person who is called upon to be loyal to others, must be loyal to themselves first, if their loyalty is to have any real meaning at all.

What is going on that you have asked this?

To me trust is more important than loyalty.
A dog can be loyal, but still be a dog.
Would I trust him with my heart? No he is a dog.

Trust is believing on something or person that you can bet your life for it. The loyalty in the other hand l see it as obeying the order from someone who is high then you in possessing of power which he has the right to order you to do something for him even when you know is not right in you as a person you will not love to do that but in this case of loyal you will do it in order not to suffer for it that is loyal not trust both play different parts in some cases. Thank you

the voice of reason

here are the officialish definitions

loyalty: a strong feeling of support or allegiance.

trust: firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

,, so loyalty is MORE about support, and trust is MORE about consistency

I have to think this is a concern also. Someone who is demanding trust and loyalty; both actions; that should be earned by quality actions and given only as a gift of love and respect over years of reciprocating those actions I would be telling someone to take a hike. Even as a Parent I do not demand trust and loyalty from my children, or spouse, and I put them often well above myself but I would not dream of bullying someone that way.

differentiate between Trust and Loyalty?

Very little difference in practical terms.

Trust is broken in light of facts.
Loyalty perseveres in spite of them.

Facts are funny things when people see what they want to see.

Your loyalty can influence your trust, your trust can influence your loyalty.

The more you trust, the more your loyalty grows. The greater your loyalty, the less effective is anything that might tarnish your trust.

So...not much practicality to differentiate between trust and loyalty since they are intertwined and interrelated.

Either enough facts come through to break your trust, or your loyalty isn't rewarded enough so loses meaning.

Otherwise, they both continue to grow.

LOYAL means being faithful. Someone who never cheats on you with another person. Someone who can stand by your side through thick and thin as in a marriage vow....

" I take you for my lawful husband/wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part."

TRUST is a belief that someone is being truthful, honest and reliable. So, if a wife or husband is loyal to each other and both are willing to give their lives to each other. In turn they can trust that they will be loyal to one another , willing to give up their lives or one will be there for the other, and will not leave each other behind when things go wrong.
