I had 4 people mail me and asked if I was making a good living, and after I tell them that a truck driver don't really make all that much they never mail again.

Here is a break down on one week for me

12000 miles <<< conservatively @ 1.39 mile = 16,680

expenses
fuel @ 5.9 MPG @ a cost of 3.09 = 6282.00
truck payment, ins, etc, = 2500.00

So here is what you have

16,680
-6282
-2500.00
=7898.00

Now this does not include my quarterly taxes for state and feds nor does it include my quarterly fuel tax. And any breakdowns that may happen.

So if you are gonna mail me don't do it just cause you think we have money

Don't know, the truck drivers I've known were never rich... one crashed on his Dad's couch when he wasn't OTR-ing.

as a driver myself, my answer to that would be none of your f*cking business. who asks how much money someone makes as the first thing they ever say. if your sitting in a coffee shop and someone walks over to your table out of the blue that you dnt know and asks how much do u make why should they even get the benefit of u looking them in the eye. just cus its online doesnt make it any diff.

I actually think it is funny. If only some people knew how hard we really work for what little bit we get, they would understand why we go flying down the roads. If each and every person was required to take a 2 day trip with a truck driver (not these new age hi tech ones either) before they got theyre drivers license this wrld would be a better place in the way of traffic flow.

No insult on the new drivers intended in any way. Most of you guys and gals don't know what it used to be like. I was still using toothpicks till about 6 years ago when they started doing this vehicular murder and stuff.

Hell I can remember when you could BUY you a fresh 70. You can't even do that anymore with these new HOS rules

Yep, just goes to show you the superficiality, self centeredness and concern over money that too many people have as a mindset these days. The way I see it, they are not worth your time anyway. If all they want is some money, let them keep playing the lottery. Maybe they will win, maybe they won't.
I was a company driver for 7 years, and I am here to tell you that for the amount of work we do, they don't pay us that much.

Bear I know the truckers life an your right it is not an easy one but if you guys shut down for a day or 2 the nation would be hurtin. so to the other dont let the door hit your ass as you leave

I drive a concrete mixer truck and make union scale which is 25/hr. In any other state that would be cool but here in california where the average price of a house is half a million bucks and gas is about 2.80/gal etc. it's barely a comfortable living. At least I get benefits.
