i know most of you won't know and a lot possibly won't care..but hear me out,
today was the birthday of the sport of Rugby league- which was born on this day 120 years ago , in my hometown! today was also the final of the sport's challenge cup,at wembley stadium ,a competition open to professional and amateur teams across the Whole British isle, with french and russian teams also participating. as is traditional on cup final day, all the fans and guests are invited to sing along to a traditional hymn "abide with me" which is usually sung at funerals and is used to remember people who have passed away. however today it was sung by Lizzie Jones, a young mother of 7 month old twins, whose husband, Danny suffered a heart attack and died on the pitch while playing a game for his team in may. she was left widowed and the twins without a father. a very emotional time and she was extremely brave to do it please watch the video and if you don't have a lump in your throat then you can't be human! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/34084792 |

A reality-televised slice of life
That requires of us not to dial-in our vote But instead to bear witness to a Mother's Love Bursting out of the abode of Her Heart, Unimaginable woe dispelled by self-less courage; An Oval ball propelled beyond a chalked line; To make points level in the wake of a try That underscores the calibre of Her self-less deed Twin bairns perched in the crook of either arm As though securely berthed within a Chariot. Piloted by a Shepherdess, Transporting them Majestically from Wembley's hallowed turf Atop which a Final Cup in Dad's Honour may play-out a last Challenge. And all the while as we await the final hooter An Almighty rain-dance pours from all our weeping eyes. Yes, A reality-televised slice of life That requires of us not to dial-in our vote But instead to bear witness to a Mother's Love Bursting out of the abode of Her Heart, R.I.P Danny Jones (1986 - 2015) Jah, Jah Bless |
