I think you are off to a good start because you are putting yourself out here. And that can be tough to do at times.

Now perhaps it would be better to maybe take the negativity out of the profile.

Instead of saying... I am the stereotypical nice guy I'm the sterotypical nice guy who was pretty much convinced he would always finish last. I've always wanted to be a good husband and father, but had mostly given up hope of romance.

But I'm entering a new phase in life, and I'm gently blowing on the embers of my hopes. Ask me why .
I hope to to believe I am a nice man with convictions and understanding of all.. I seem to be lagging a bit behind but I know what I have to offer is an amazing experience for some special woman. I can be romantic, a great listener, best friend to that one special woman.

I haven't given up the dream of being a husband,and father.
I am entering a new phase of my life, want to help me blow the embers of hope?

I may be all wet behind the ears and I will freely admit writing isn't my strong suit in life. Yet, I read a lot of profiles and the one huge turn off for me is lack of self confidence and negativity.

I do wish you well in your search.. Remember you have to value who you are and what you have to offer before someone else will.

You tried hard on your profile good job...take a picture straight on...not looking up from below....would be much more flattering
