If God is a God of perfect love, give me ONE reason He asks us to abstain from sexual intimacy till marriage?
My one reason is He deeply cares about us and does not want to see us emotionally hurt or for us to emotionally hurt someone else. Please keep to the topic |

I like the way you phrased the question.
Love doesn't have to be about sexual intimacy. It is more than that. And perfect love, in my opinion, goes well beyond our emotions and feelings, as it is not a temporary or fleeting matter. The physical act of lovemaking serves its purpose for procreation and as it says, man and wife to become as one flesh. There is something undoubtedly, deeply meaningful to entrust your entirety to another as tho you are one and the same being with them. And to do so requires a covenant with another. What hurts you, hurts them. What uplifts you, does the same to them. What binds them, binds you. There is a lot of metaphors and allusions in the bible about being of one body, one mind and one spirit that pertains to our relationship with God. But these do also apply to a human partner in life. I think God wants us to know a kind of love that is perfect, teach us what it means to value such a thing, and experience it mutually with someone that can do the same for us. I suppose something is not valued as much if it's handed out to so many or so prematurely. |

I was hoping for a reason...
But philosophy is good too. Being married before. I do not think we are capable of perfect love. Only God is. |

one of the reason God ask us to abstain from sexual intimacy till marriage is because he want us to be HOLY, because without holiness no man can see God.the sin of fornication is a sin against our body n the holy spirit.
for this to be avoided n for him to be with us in heaven he gave dis commandment. |

Only God is. i see where you got that from my post. no..i don't mean that we are capable to provide perfect love. Perfect love is holy and divine and can only come from God. |

A partial meaning of the word holy is whole :)
The Hebrew word for holy is 'qodesh' and means 'apartness, set-apartness, separateness, sacredness' and I would add that it should also be 'otherness, transcendent and totally other' because God is totally above His creation and His creatures, including us. Holy has the idea of heaviness or weight of glory. In the New Testament, the word for holy is 'hagios' and means set apart, reverend, sacred, and worthy of veneration. This word applies to God because God Himself is totally other, separate, sacred, transcendent, reverend, and set apart from every created thing. Since God is spirit this is why the Third Person of the Trinity is called the Holy Spirit. He too is fully God and all three Persons of the Trinity are holy and have the weight of glory abounding in them. "Our God is holy!" The word "holy" comes from the same root as "whole" and "healthy." When we say something is holy, we're saying it is undivided, complete. Psalm 99 is a brief explosion of praise and the word "holy" is used four times in its total of nine verses. It celebrates the vitality and wholeness and power of God. When I feel overwhelmed by the trivial problems of my day or bigger concerns that nag at my thoughts, I remind myself that I can reconnect with that complete undivided power and love at any time. I cannot solve my problems by myself. Even the phrase "by myself" has already divided me, made me un-whole, separated me from God. It's an illusion. I am never by myself. Holy God, the Undivided One, is always with me. When I remember that, I can face any challenge. |

If God is a God of perfect love, give me ONE reason He asks us to abstain from sexual intimacy till marriage? My one reason is He deeply cares about us and does not want to see us emotionally hurt or for us to emotionally hurt someone else. Please keep to the topic I believe as our creator he understands more than us all the emotional and psychological affects that sex creates, how significant a role it plays in creating life itself, and the illness that it can cause the body I believe he wants us to commit to that one person, to keep potential damage to a minimum , to create the potential to truly be able to 'cherish' another to a maximum, and to keep the potential for his design (one man, one woman, procreating and raising their children) to be kept perfect to most perfectly reflect the relationship of the creator to the creation,,,, |

If God is a God of perfect love, give me ONE reason He asks us to abstain from sexual intimacy till marriage? My one reason is He deeply cares about us and does not want to see us emotionally hurt or for us to emotionally hurt someone else. Please keep to the topic One reason is that HE (GOD) do not want the bed to be defiled. HE created marriage as simple as "This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife in such a way that the two become one person. Now although the man and his wife were both naked, neither of them was embarrassed or ashamed." (Genesis 2:24,25 THE LIVING BIBLE ILLUSTRATED). Second reason is that HE (GOD) is holy and would judge the fornicators (those who committed premarital sex outside marriage). HE simply wants the individual or the people to flee from sexual immorality and be holy. And the bed undefiled. |

Toks lol, you snuck in two reasons.
I enjoy reading people's reasons. It can give you more appreciation for why God asks abstinance from us till marriage. Here is another reason. Family. He does not want illegitimate children running around. It is not fair on the child. |

This is how I see this
Our bodies are the temple of God He's also told us to be married before sex so in obedience to his word do as you are told . Don't have sex. It's so simple Where would we be if Jesus didn't obey the Father by going to the cross? Once you have that personal revelation of What he has done for you then you will understand more and your relationship is stronger you don't go back to your old ways. |
