Haven't you noticed as time goes by, less and less people are intelligent, have passion in life and are capable of common sense ? Of course there are exceptions, but they are getting rare :) Are there people who enjoy the company of intelligent purposeful people on here ? ;) I dont know whether people are more or less intelligent,, I do feel that people are LAZIER in their thinking as they are used to having access to instant information that doesnt require them to do much thinking I think people have as much passion as ever, but for different priorities than they once did on the common sense issue however, it does seem there is less of it,, but I think thats a side effect of the lazy thinking Valid points ;) But more passion than ever ? If it was the case, the word "bored" wouldn't be so common :) |

No, I have not noticed at all. I work in a high traffic resort in Myrtle Beach and I have conversations daily with people from all over and they are all intelligent and most have a zest for life. I do agree with a few of my fellow posters that instant access to information has made people lazy to a certain extent and I often wonder why they stare at their phones when the beach and ocean are so beautiful here, I think the problem lays with boredom, it may seem what you are describing if everyday is the same old same old.

I believe boredom comes from an inability to fulfill a passion
not that they are mutually exclusive I know my son is very passionate about his music, but he gets bored easily because he isnt always in a situation or environment where its appropriate to create music |

Haven't you noticed as time goes by, less and less people are intelligent, have passion in life and are capable of common sense ? Of course there are exceptions, but they are getting rare :) Are there people who enjoy the company of intelligent purposeful people on here ? ;) I'm primarily an Historian by training, and I slightly disagree with your question. I haven't found that there is any decline in the number of intelligent and thoughtful or passionate people. My own life has been a voyage of discovery which kicked off in my teens and twenties, discovering to my shock and disappointment that those kinds of people have always been extremely rare. It's not that most people are horrible, it's more that most people make a lot of assumptions about the world as they grow up, and just don't notice that they were wrong all along. I was "unlucky" growing up, so I chanced to learn that it actually takes a lot of work for a person to demonstrate so-called "common sense," and since most people are "luckier," they think it happens on it's own. So they do or say ludicrous things, and then either pitch a fuss when they go wrong, or chalk it up to chance, and go back to their delusions. On the good side, the advent of the internet has allowed me to meet people from all over the place, who DO understand that thinking logically requires work, and that's encouraging. One thing to watch out for: the people who are MOST intent on remaining deluded (for their pwn ego comfort) tend to be the loudest, most rude, and most prolific critics. They can easily give you the impression that they outnumber thinkers twenty to one, when they are actually the minority. Don't lose heart. Build thought instead. |

I think many of us often forget that everyone has something to share.
ego is a tremendous factor in the belittling of others. a person with a degree may often think they have more knowledge and/or skill than a person who didn't complete a formal education. however oftentimes, that is not fully correct. often one who didn't have the opportunity to go to school has had to learn to use their wits an ingenuity to get ahead in life. passion is what one feels strongly about. some people have a passion for life in general.others have ppassion for a certain lifestyle. the important thing is to be happy with one's self and look at the positive in others |

I enjoy the company of lots of people, Some are more intelligent than others, Most are way more intelligent than myself lol But I don't let it interfere with making new friends And finding out if the grass is yummier elsewhere Others are funny and they make my days happy and full of laughter and smiling they say Keeps the wrinkles away lol. Great friends come in all shapes, sizes, colours and wattages (varying intelligence) I don't believe in tieing your self down to a specific group of people. How beautifully put Very beautiful and wise words I fully agree, there are so many things different types of people may offer which have nothing to do with intelligence ... ... But it is just a trend that I am noticing, that the global society (the mass) is encouraging stupidity, and it is becoming quite acceptable sometimes and even desirable(by some) to be stupid. An example would be : how on earth can anyone be "bored" in such an amazing and rather limitless world ? But yet soooo many people are bored and even posting about it like it was something to be proud of . There was even a "viral" post on facebook which valorized people who talk without even thinking ... and people were so happy and proud to relate to it ... getting back to the subject(relationships), based on the experiences I had in years of being around women in all sorts of relationships, it is very hard to communicate with someone who refuses to think, reflect and have an open mind(surely based on habit), and ... ...ON THE OTHER SIDE it is such a delight and pleasure to communicate and interact with people who do think and reflect ... I personally get hard ons while being and talking with intelligent partners who made the decision to live amazing passionate lives :) The experience is just so effortless, rich and beautiful |

Intelligent is not only about qualification but also how situations are being dealt with. |

Haven't you noticed as time goes by, less and less people are intelligent, have passion in life and are capable of common sense ? Of course there are exceptions, but they are getting rare :) There are many intelligent people they just forgot to use their common sense or maybe they banged their head on a wall and had a temporary amnesia or maybe they have a dysfunctional heart and brain affecting their mental and emotional capacity Though, I would say nobody is stupid... everything can be learned and it's just a matter of using common sense sometimes . It depends on how an individual use his or her brain....all the knowledge is there but some people have become shallow, unfeeling or indifferent,. The society has changed affecting the way of thinking of an individual and emotionally too. |

Wow! This topic & other topics that are related to this one-have been important to me for many years. I blame much of this destructive behavior on a socially adopted value system which lacks, morality, honesty, spirituality, & personal ethic. There has been so much research into this topic by people with far more training & education than I have. Their information, theories, & conclusions have resulted in a multitude of books, publications, studies, & documentaries. The truth of where this path will lead is frightening but, The truth IS Out There & available for anyone to access. however, sadly, there seems to be this "Fear-Thing" going on in public awareness & consciousness.
My own thoughts are that "Everyone" has had or will have, a terrible personal encounter with one or many of the various symptoms of this corrupt, psychopathic, narcissistic & greed-driven social agenda held by Those In Power & specifically for the purpose that Those In Power wish to retain-That Power. I also do believe that that the majority of people are not "Stupid" & "Do Get" what's going on but many of these individuals are too frightened to speak out. Instead, they will rationalize that their personal silence indicates- a neutral disapproval of what they see or perhaps, they will hope that maybe, like some monster under the bed; "It'll all just disappear & go away in the light. Sadly, This Passive Path Of Least Resistance[Existence] will only enable the Perpetrators to continue to do what they're doing. "Complacency to The Directive of An Authority Figure" has been gradually & purposely integrated into the framework of The American Public School System & conditioned into every child from Pre-School through Secondary School. Teachers are now encouraged to either, "Teach" to the Lowest Intellectual Level in the class or To "Teach To A Test". The slang term for this state of affairs is known as: "Dumbing-Down". Obviously "Free-Thinkers" are Not Good for The Power Base; Free Thinkers- will "Think", they will ask questions & if not satisfied with the answers provided [lies]-will possess the intellectual ability & the capacity to empower themselves to address the Injustice, Corruption, & Destructive Activities/Issues via some other alternate, with generally, a more escalated & pro-active approach. Think of the Demonstrations & Rallies of Young People on the University Campuses against War & those Spirited Protests organized by Women & People of Color for the purpose to be granted Basic Human Rights. There's a valid reason for why this doesn't happen today as there was an equally valid reason for those individuals who were en-charged with the responsibility of carrying out the executions & annihilation of all those individuals of Jewish Ancestry & Faith. See: *The Milgram Experiment" Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_Experiment * The Web/ cyberspace Is A Double Edged Sword. On the one hand The Web enables viewers to actually witness, up-close & personal- the sick, psychopathic narcissistic destructive, behaviors of these Perpetrators, their lack of empathy, their mindless ignorance, & lack of compassion without conscience or remorse, now openly revealed & displayed on every web site. The Cutting/Killing-Edge of the The Sword is that The Internet has the ability to be used as an effective & the perfect weapon by The Perpetrators in the sick, cruel, & perverted intent to do the maximum damage & the ultimate harm to their intended target[s]. So, the topic concerns much more than just a mild case of ignorance & simple rudeness. I think those of us who do not share or relate to this mind-set, do see it. What has been seen cannot unseen. The real question is what are we[as individuals] going to do with this information? *Sighs* I don't have that answer.Personally I choose to be pro-active & confrontational when I observe such behaviors & maintain a "Zero-Tolerance" for ridding my own web page[s] of those individuals who attempt to harm others. It seems like such a small thing but it's doable.Ironically enough, most of the "Bullies"/"Trolls" are really quite cowardly when directly confronted. I apologize for the length of this post & extend gratitude to those who have gotten this far;} |
