Topic: Who is more attractive? Men or Women | |

^ Obviously, the bird in red is more beautiful. But enough about me... |

OP, there is a lot of fascinating and insight-enhancing stuff to explore in the subject area of attraction between males and females. However, I think you have jumped right past a number of important details, and made some common logical errors in starting your investigation of it all.
In no particular order: * you have noted correctly that there are more words used by males to refer to attractive females than females use to refer to attractive males, when it comes to appearance. What you have missed, is that ATTRACTION is a much larger phenomenon than is described by words about appearances. To be a little facetious about it...while males use hundreds of words to describe how hot-looking a female is, then tend to have only ONE subject which they want to talk about, when the idea of attraction comes up: "hotness." Females, on the other hand, when the subject of attraction comes up, will talk about hundreds of elements which are a part of their decision making for choosing a FUNCTIONAL mate. * you may have missed the fact that HUMAN females tend to invest a lot more in "plumage" than non-human females, relatively speaking. This is the opposite of what you hear described in the non-human world. * you have missed the fact that the reason why zoologists notice and draw attention to the males in the non-human world who DO invest so much of their existence on "being beautiful," is precisely because they do perceive this as being the OPPOSITE of what they think they see in the human world. So there is a twisted perception element to this. * you have completely overlooked that human males EXPRESS their attempts at being attractive to females in different ways than zoologists refer to in non-humans. Human males DO dress themselves up, and perform "dances," just as non-human males do. But many of our "dances" are so subtle, or so long, and so vastly complex, that even the females observing them don't recognize them as the "Mating dances" that they are. |

I believe the OP touched on all your points but you missed all of his points.

If we follow the same trend, a big man with full grown beard and moustache should be considered the most attractive male..:-)
So Lukin, this is what I should be looking for? |

Good one!

The female form has curves, breasts, flaring hips, curved buttocks. This makes the female more attractive and appealing. She is the subject of most famous paintings and portraits. A woman's body parts are neatly intact, not hanging out like the man's. This is another vast appeal. I want to add to this how the pretty little girl always gets all the attention as opposed to other girls or little boys. |

off topic......I know peeps think that seeing someone is the absolute first thing we need to "like" before liking someone (and ultimately falling in love), but for me, I can fall in love with a man by his words, attitude and compassion. Looks are simply a want...not a requirement in my book.
I don't think it is off topic actually we are talking about the physical here and yet this sums up attraction in a more subliminal method. I personally agree with this theory. |

Looking at basics, the only big difference between humans and next lower primates is our bigger brains and movable lower jaw that are key to development of languages and organized societies. Consequently, seduction has shifted its modes....a female may feel the same sense of security and protection with a man who's resourceful, the way she used to feel earlier being with a strong silver-back hunk.

We see male of any animal species is always more attractive than its female counterpart...name any bird or mammal and you know what I am talking about. Why is it that in humans, we generally consider women to be more attractive and have words like cute, pretty, beautiful, gorgeous, ravishing, stunning, elegant etc. only used for them whereas attractive men are just 'handsome'? Are we special as a species or is it just our perception? I find the human female to be the more attractive.. It could be because I'm a straight male.. IDK |

I think we always find the opposite sex more attractive either male or female although the ladies got some added qualities just like Iam rightly said, all the curves and all the edges

I believe the OP touched on all your points but you missed all of his points. Really now? What are these human male dances to attract human females, praytell? Everything males do, is part of their dance. They are very complicated. Going to war is one of the dances. Building stuff is another. Posting stuff online is getting to be a biggie. Drinking until they throw up hasn't been as successful as some other dances, but some males still think it will work if they just keep doing it. |

So true Igor, and yet I think women have their own dance, as well don't they.. |

We all "dance," whether we realize it or not.
It's simpler to recognize in other species, is all. |
