My son was invited to travel and study in Australia and New Zealand in the summer of 2008. This program is an educational exploration program founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

My son can experience 19 days of rewarding activities and meet the people of Australia and New Zealand. Our local delegation will represent the United States overseas, experience new cultures, and make lifelong friends. Success and confidence await my son.

This is part of a letter I got from People to People International. They are also a student ambassador progam, it sounds legit...but where did they get my sons name? Has anyone ever dealt with these people?
I called my sons school because I thought maybe they put his name in for being a good student or something. I have to admit, he is not a straight A student or anything so that kind of worried me.
I also told them the only way he could go is if I could be a chaperone. They told me that chaperones were provided and he would be safe.
What is any of the other parents intake on this...OH my son is in 7th grade and he is going to be 13. I myself, thinks he should go but ONLY if I can go with him. This trip is paid for and cost me nothing...I think something sounds strange about it.
Any feed back would be nice!!!

haha I don't think he is ready to go off to another country. Plus I am putting him in the hands of people I don't even know, would you do that with your children? I would not even think twice IF he was in high school....but hes is in the 7th grade!! MY GOSH..I still tuck my baby in to bed...I think I should be able to go with him IF I pay my own way.

I did google it, it is legit. It says that teachers nominate him, but according to the school...they know nothing about it. I have no clue.

According to my sons school..they know nothing about it. There is a phone number on here...I guess I should call there.
My brother told me to be very careful and not to jump into anything. He thinks I need to really check this out before I even think about sending my son anywhere!!

If the school is in the dark,I would be very suspicious myself.Could be someone other than a teacher nominated him.Call the number and see what ya get.I would also call the post office if he recieved notification by letter because they can investigate if its a fraud.

it would be a once in a life time opportunity, but very aware. If the school has no clue about this something doesn't smell right.
You said there is a phone # there call and ask them how they got your childs name and who(names) of the teachers that so-called nominated him.
This is your child and these days you don't know what scams are going on,don't trust anybody with your child...
Have you contacted the BBB they would beable to give you a better out look on this company if they haven't heard of them it's not legit cause anyone can have a website.
